Louis was much worse in Walcott fights than in the first Schmeling fight, but he was still better then than in Marciano fight.

    1936 Louis >>>> 1948 Louis >>>>>>>>>> 1951 Louis
Uzcudun wasn't even the best on that list. Stribling, Hamas and Sharkey are better wins than him.
He was so ancient that he was beating heavyweights until he got dominated by Schmeling.
Marciano himself fought quite a few small guys ;)
Marciano outworked Charles, he didn't counter punch him. He won because he had more stamina and superior chin. That's not how Max beat Louis.
Marciano didn't have better defense than Schmeling. He got hit by ancient Louis more often than Max got hit by prime one.

His power, chin and stamina would make him crowd Louis and try to outwork him. Again, that's not how Schmeling fought against Louis.

If Rocky ever beat prime Louis, it wouldn't look comparable to what Schmeling did. That's my point

These are Joe Louis words. Not mine lol. He was knocked down by a lot of good punchers and Marciano was. Better finisher then all of them. As far as Marcianos improvement is concerned it’s obvious on film if you look for it and take the word of people like LaStarza who said after their second fight he dramatically improved From their last fight. And yes Galento gave Louis a hard time. Galento just didn’t have the skill set or chin to do it a whole fight.

So you judge fighters only by first three rounds? You've never seen a fight when a fighter lost first three rounds but win the fight? Really? Three rounds is nothing in 15 rounder.
Schmeling outjabbed Sharkey in that fight...

Why do people treat Marciano as some mythical creature? If you actually look what happened in his career, it's pretty damn obvious that's he's only slightly better than past prime Charles and Walcott. He wouldn't even beat a prime Charles, let alone a prime Louis.

Louis was that worse after one fight?
He was so worse than 1948 that in next rematch beat Walcott? He was so worse that he beat Bivins and gave Charles good fight?Yeah right he was so much passed in 1951 that he was in 1948 which is laughable.
Louis was so much better in that second Walcott fight which he showed experience, perfect shape and combos while Green Louis was not even the half fighter that 1948 Louis was!
Uzcudun was the best of them since he atleast beat someone notable but was ancient when faced Louis.
Sharkey...also past prime but still beat Schmelling which Louis couldn't until Schmelling was ancient.
Yes he countered him few times and that's they way also how he knocked him in the rematch. He countered him with right hand and that is hoe Schmelling won against Louis.
And yes Schmelling also beat Louis be ause his better stamina.
Yes he did have alot better defense.Again he had that better crouch, bob and weave plus he could crowd you which is alot better than Schmelling wide ope defense. If Schmelling could be taken by wide haymaker by Max Baer that shows his defense is nothing comparable to Marciano.
Nope he would not crowd but outboxed hims and beat him to the punch. That's how Schmelling won.Schemlling won with counter rights which was Rocky best weapon and he used it even better.
Schmelling also beat Louis because stamina and Louis was gasses in late rounds and that's how Rocky would won

I judge because Sharkey beat him until the DQ!
And he beat him in rematch shows Schmelling would lost even in the first fight.Fighter lost 3 rounds but acutally win the fight unlike Schmelling who got that win because DQ.
And when someone lost 3 rounds and win he don't get beaten like Schmelling was int he second fight.
Maybe in your eyes but in my.eyes and judges he didn't because Sharkey clearly controled the fight with his jab!

Charles was past against Rocky?Only dumb hater could say that when Charles was almost same age as Rocky and came after wins over Sattercield,Moore,Walcott....yeah he was past his best right.
Walcott was past?Walcott like some fighters got better with age.His best wins were when he was old man and he was not past his best because at that age he became finished product.

Marciano was much better fighter than Schmeling overall and much harder puncher with a better chin

Yes, Charles was past prime vs Marciano.

I'm a dumb hater? Y'know who my favourite fighter is, right?

Walcott he beat four years before, Satterfield was chinny slugger who everyone beat. And Charles didn't look that good vs, and the wins over Moore were seven years before.

Walcott was better years before, vs Louis and Charles. And he was beating Marciano in his penultimate fight. He was past it too.

Fair enough. But he also had more stamina, power, and chin to bother Louis with.

Walcott is often underrated around here...People tend to judge him for his out of prime losses.

Who would have thought a Louis - Marciano thread would have brought forth such passion LOL

I think they are actually a tough match up for each other. Both bring plenty to the table and both have assets that will trouble the other. Marciano with his awkward low aggression taking room away and Louis with his blazing offensive efficiency and ability to generate great power from basically anywhere. Both have power to spare. Both had excellent durability.

Great matchup this one. Which one could actually finish the other?

Not me. I judge him for the five or six losses he had in his prime.
