I also don't think Walcott would last with Tyson which seems strange because he went a long way with Louis, but that was an older Louis who had lost a step and Tyson was on you from the get go.The same with Rocky, he was a pressure fighter but never as manic as Tyson or anywhere near as quick.
Tyson by KO within 3 rounds or less. Either the ref saves Rocky from himself for refusing to stay down after being dropped multiple times, or Tyson just straight up renders him unconscious. Rocky's advantage in stamina and work rate would be irrelevant as there's no way he makes it out of the early rounds for those factors to matter.
It depends on the version of Tyson. An ear chewing Tyson belongs in a mental hospital and couldn't beat anyone. Same for a Buster Douglas Tyson.
It can be argued that Rocky Marciano was “ Greater “ than Mike Tyson. But I think this is a bad match for him.
Peak Mike was an absolute phenom. Yeah he lost to Douglas, but he'd have smoked him in the rematch and any objective look at their next fights indicates as much. Rocky has nothing on Mike other than stamina. And I don't think he takes Mike into deep waters
I'm amused at the thought of how awkward this fight would be for Tyson. Has he EVER had a reach advantage on an opponent? Fought an opponent who would be trying to get inside of HIS guard? I really can't see any fighter who constantly advances having much of a chance against Tyson, but it would certainly generate an interesting few rounds until he adjusted.
And deservedly so... This is a rare case where Rocky’s strengths are going to play against him. His aggressive swarming is going to play directly into Tyson’s hands. The sensible thing to do would be to fight Tyson cautiously. In order to win Rocky would have to negate himself: to fight in a very slow burner way, keeping distance and bidding his time during the early rounds until his superior toughness and stamina can be played. But Rocky was not like that. He is not going to back down. Most probably Rocky will be more than willing to go to war with Tyson from the go; but he is going to face a great counterpuncher, quicker, stronger and with superior defensive skills. Rocky is stopped in 5 or less.
