Tyson beats Tim without a problem. Most likely it's short and sweet because Tim was a fighter not a clutch and grab guy.

Id say Tyson wins because he KO'd a number of opponents that beat Witherspoon

Not to mention, I think Tyson in his prime was virtually indestructible.

Tyson should be favored. But a motivated Witherspoon could potentially prove to be one of his toughest opponents

Tim doesn't have the foot speed to win this. Tucker and Douglas used quick feet to make it difficult for Mike to consistently land on them. This will be closer to the Bonecrusher fight, although Tim should be able to land more than Smith and will keep trying instead of hugging Mike. Time is very durable and has an underrated defense so he probably could last the distance while landing some hard shots, Tyson wins a UD something like 118-110

Tim gets countered a lot in the fight... if he hangs mid range too long he gets TKO'd... I think his style of fighting doesnt match up well against Tyson... can opener gets seen a mile away... have to hope Tyson shows up not interested for a different outcome

Tyson stops him in 6. Tim was an excellent fighter, but even at his best (against past prime Holmes) he couldn't stop Mike.

A motivated Tim Witherspoon boxes and counter punches well against a peak Tyson but still loses a decision.
If the Spoon hadn't had the beast that is Don King ruining his career that motivation would have always been there

Would be an interesting fight. I actually see it going the distance cos Tim had a good chin on him.
Tyson to fast for him at the end of the day but he'd be tested at times.

Tyson inside 3 for me. His left hook and right uppercut would be the pivotal punches. He's got the speed and class to set up his left hook to Tim's unprotected right cheek and that will start to open things up for the uppercut. Tyson would be looking to jab off the hook as well for obvious reasons.

First couple of rounds are competitive due to Tim's crab defense and counters. Eventually Tyson breaks him down with combinations downstairs and upstairs, stopping Tim within 5-7.

I actually think Witherspoon's crab like defense will work against him here, because he will be vulnerable to Tyson's body punches and uppercuts.

The fighters who gave Tyson problems were either fleet footed fighters, fighters who could nullify him on inside by clinching, or finally having having a great jab keeping him at distance. I don't think Witherspoon has either of these attributes TBH, although he had a good jab he wouldn't be able to control Tyson with it like Douglas.

I see Tyson winning by stoppage also, but I'll give Witherspoon some credit because he was pretty durable normally. And I'll say he lasts longer than most of Tyson's opponents in 80s.

Hanging mid-range against Tyson was suicide. I tend to think Witherspoon would have had issues as well. Would have done better than most though.

I think a prime 1988, trained-by-Rooney-Tyson would have beaten Holy.
