Just a question, is it possible to stay in peak condition all year round all do you need to go in cycles to stay fresh? You hear talk about fighters peaking too soon, what does that really mean?

if a fighter peaks too soon, then you can't peak for a whole year. From what I read, you gotta bust that nut if you peak too soon. They'll tell you to go get laid because you're too early. They want you to be perfect for that specific day

Peaking too soon, meaning that the intense training that they're doing is not needed anymore, its giving no added benifit. When fighters peak to soon in build up for a match its sometimes needed to relax the training just to keep them ticking over for the fight.

It simply means that they have reached the apex of their game and can't go any further and are simply ready to fight. Albeit, too early.

I don't think so, it could lead to injury and plus that body isn't meant to be pushed that hard. Which is why after a fight boxers usually take maybe a month or two off. Or like when you're cutting weight for a fight, you don't want to stay at that weight for too long or your body becomes weak.

i feel it's possible to stay GOOD all year round and find that it is actually HORRIBLE on the body having to cut weight (a lot of weight). 5 pounds or so i don't think is bad, but 20 pounds or something like i have heard before is horrible. or getting fat like ricky hatton, or dlh, is very bad on the body.
being at the peak is like they said before, it's at ur best. if ur at ur best too early then u will start to be too far down on the hill by the time u fight.

Peaking? Im not exactly sure, but staying close to your best is good. Hopkins for example walks around +10 lb of his fighting weight so he doesn't have to train to loose weight, instead he trains to polish his technique and on strategy.

Your training, like the rest of your life and it's functions, should be cyclical. Read and learn basic concepts of periodization. I recommend the Science of Sports Training by Thomas Kurz.
