I've seen Wajima's fight with Domenico Tiberia and he appeared very, very crafty.

Tiberia wasn't a bad fighter at all, though he was unlucky to be stopped on cuts and what not several times throughout his career. Very little power as well.

Wajima just blew him out in one, anyway.

Also, Wajima avenged all of his losses up until the end of his career, where he ended it with two back to back losses.

Show some consistency Magoo. You put Wepner no.1 all time p4p but only no.2 p4p amongst the asian fighters? Wepner is CLEARLY the no.1 asian fighter all time.

I would say Hiroyuki Ebihara, with wins over Pone Kingpetch, Chartchai Chionoi, and Efrem Torres should make your list.
What about Ki-Soo Kim, who defeated Nino Benvenuti?

I have a few fights from each of them.

The only one i've watched recently is Hong vs Carrasquilla.A great fight indeed.I remember reading that Hong broke a number of Hector's ribs.Hector was certainly never the same fighter again despite fighting well against Pedroza.

Oguma was a very good aggressive pressure fighter\swarmer.He was very rough and dirty as well-much more so than Ebihara or Harada.

I never knew that Hong broke a few of Hector`s ribs, although I am not surprised as he was a terrific puncher. I do remember shortly before Hong flattened him for the count that he landed a left hook to the ribs which lowered Hector`s guard enough for the finishing left hook to find its mark... maybe that was the punch which did the damage to his ribs?

As for Oguma I agree with your views on him, especially the rough and dirty part. The way he would come in with his head like a Billy Goat must have been maddening for his opponents, especially since he was so good at getting away with it. Kinda reminds me of Eijiro Murata in that regard, he was another one who was good with his head in more ways than one, just ask Jeff Chandler!

    Scartissue,

Glad to see Mantequilla and I aren`t the only ones who are familiar with Borkorsor, he was some fighter indeed and sadly all but forgotten. I do not recall much about the Cabanella fight other than Venice won comfortably, I`ll try and see if I can dig up som more information on the bout. Here is another name which I think you will be familiar with Scar, and that would be Shig Fukuyama. Talk about a guy who fought everybody and all the big names of his time, he was a real pro ol` Shig was. Came up short more often than not against the elite fighters, but always acquitted himself well even in defeat.... do you have any stories to share about Fukuyama by any chance?

Slightly off topic question. What was the highest weight class that had an Asian world champ? Light Welterweight? Welterweight? Jr Middle? Anyone know for sure?

Bull, I saw Fukuyama fight about 5 times. I saw him lose to David Sotelo, then he knocked out two hotshots who were real outstanding prospects at the time. Luis Hernandez and Carlos Perez. The Perez knockout was especially impressive as Perez was very strong, had just beaten a lightweight (Cesar Sinda) and was referred to in the press as the Mexican Gene Fullmer. So when Fukuyama blew him away in the 1st round, it set everyone talking. I also saw his fight with Lopez and O'Grady. He was one tough dude.
