PEDerson-Holt Drug Tests – what’s going on?

The last we heard about this was that the results which detected HCG use, belonged to Holt. It was initially reported that PEDerson tested for these, but in a bizarre turn of events Holt was being accused. Since then, it seems like the whole thing has been forgotten. Fat Dan said Holt’s samples contained atypical findings. Atypical findings are described as:

Atypical findings in anti-doping are an area of much concern and misunderstanding. The new World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) Code, effective January 1, 2009, has introduced the concept of atypical findings. The WADA magazine Play True [Issue 3-2008] explains that laboratories are directed to report the presence of a prohibited substance, which may also be produced endogenously, as an atypical finding, which is subject to further investigation. Upon receipt of an A sample atypical finding where a review by the anti-doping organization responsible for the results management does not reveal an applicable therapeutic use exemption or that a departure is the cause for the atypical finding, the anti-doping organization will conduct the required investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, the athlete and other anti-doping organizations (including WADA) will be notified whether or not the atypical finding will be brought forward as an adverse analytical finding.

So, in a nutshell:

• Fight/testing takes places
• DC hold on to the test results for a month without giving them to the IBF or the fighters, choosing instead to release a statement saying both tests were clean.
• Weeks later, still no release of those results (despite repeated requests from Team Holt) until it emerges the tests are actually not clean, and that PEDerson tested positive for HCG use.
• The story is retracted, and the blame shifts to Holt.
• It is claimed that the results are ‘atypical’ findings, and as of yet, belong to neither fighter. An investigation will ensue.

Does this basically mean everything is being brushed aside and everyone, like they’re already doing, will just forget about it all?

 

I've always been under the impression that GBP don't care much for LM, and that if possible, they'd like to see him knocked off course and away from Garcia. Hence why they're happy to support a PED user and pit that PED user in the way of his [LM's] title shot.

 

I wish that happens. But unfortunately, I don't think it will. PEDerson will be allowed to walk into that fight juiced up again, and GBP will be happy to see LM get derailed; giving them a decent excuse to keep him away from their more precious 140 pounders (like Garcia and Khan, who are being groomed as future Mayweather opponents).

 

Hmm, not sure about that. In my previous post I probably should have added PEDerson in the list of 140 pounders that GBP value. All of these fighters -- Khan, PEDerson and Garcia -- can be marketed well as Mayweather opponents. Matthysse can't. He's the black sheep of their family. He's too dangerous for the non-marketable fighter he is. If let loose he risks cannabalising their stable, and so they're trying to keep him chained up for as long as possible. Throwing a PED user in there with him will help do that.
