Diaz has Ph in Sport. He was the one responsible in the Cuban National Team of Felix Savon, three times Olimpic gold medallist. He is still in the learning curve. I'm glad for him.

I think Manny would have had a better strategy for Cotto but the conditioning might have suffered.

Diaz had Cotto in great condition, but his strategy was very basic.

Yes, you are right! Sarmiento is Fortuna's trainer or at least was cuz sometimes the brother I guess takes his place. But I think Sarmiento has done a pretty good job with him. I just wish he would get that wild crap out of his system at least with people that can punch. One of these days he is gonna get caught....although he seems to have a pretty good chin.

Sorry, if I'm highjacking this thread...

What strategy could Steward have had that was so much better? The strategy needed to beat Floyd is not complex. It's only complex in trying to implement.

He gave cotto a good gameplan, a near perfect one actaully. But Cotto didnt seem well conditioned enough to implement that over 12 rounds. If he ever rematches Floyd he needs to be in better shape.

diaz is a pretty good trainer. being a former coach of cuba's boxing team is an added incentive....too bad his fighter had to face floyd.......

He didnt do a good job he did a great job, even the instructions and things he told cotto between rds were great. He never lied to cotto he asked cotto to be busier he wanted more punches thrown he even told him he was losing and needed the last few rds. He did the best job possible it was up to cotto to do the rest but cotto just didnt have it but it wasnt because of his corner. If i was a promoter of boxers i would sign him up to train my boxers.
