He clearly did his homework. I think he can keep making small but worthwhile improvements in Cotto's game, now that his fire is back.
Diaz did a great job throughout the camp and during the fight. Had Cotto been with Joe Santiago instead, I can only imagine how much worse he would've done.
cottos body looked great. he was mentally totaly in the fight. his condition was good. the game plan was good and than they won 3-5 rounds which is a good number considering mayweather rarely losing 2-3 rounds in 1 fight. so all in all pedro did an fantastic job. cotto in that shape and mindframe can beat anybody except the big 3 martinez, floyd & pacquiao.
Yes, he did the best he could do with Cotto going against Floyd. . . I don't think Cotto completely followed the gameplan he laid out, but then again, it's rare for a boxer to ever perfectly execute a gameplan. . . that's why a trainer can only do so much, no matter how good he is, because on the world class level - you HAVE to be able to "think on the fly", and make adjustments on your own - the ability to "READ AND REACT", if you will. . . Only a handful of boxers do this today, and only one boxer does is almost perfectly.
I'd say so. Cotto has looked great physically his last couple of fights and it seems he still has a lot left.
He has been working as a consultant for GYM (pascal's promoter) here in mtl. I even met the guy. He worked with Pascal, Lemieux and other GYM boxers. Pascal's head trainer is Marc Ramsay though.
Agreed, but also he polished a bit Cottos mobility around the ring. But conditioning def was the factor.:good
