Anyone think Cotto will change his corner again and get rid of Pedro? I'm assuming he won't because he probably only has one more fight left in him. I personally think Diaz is a good fit for Cotto.

Diaz is still the best trainer for Cotto

It's not the trainer, it's Cotto. He shouldn't be fighting at 154. He looks like a ****ing T-Rex with those short arms.

I agree that he looked a little lost in there. I watched it on TSN here in Canada and they cut to commercials between rounds for the most part, so I couldn't hear what either corner was saying.

I kept thinking that he was too small to be fighting at 154. That 5"-6" reach advantage Trout had was definitely making Cotto's arms look short.

    lol @ t-rex arms

I was trying to figure this out too. Cotto's jab used to be lethal, and last night it was way under-utilized. Maybe because of the reach disadvantage.

Miguel should have fought shook like he did in the Margo II fight.
They thought they were going to smash Trout & decided to WAR.

Diaz is useless as an attack coach.

Nah.. That wouldn't work. Trout isn't Margarito. Margarito is so one paced and predictable that it's possible for a smaller man fight from the outside. Trout is/was a whole different thing.

It's hard to outjab a taller opponent who's also jabbing.
Margo isn't aware of what a jab is. It's why PAC had his ass handled.
Can't compare Margo style with Trout.
It's why Diaz elected to go inside and work the body.

Problem with this matchup is Trout is a tall southpaw. Landing Cotto's best weapon, left hook is hard against a much taller opponent specially a southpaw cos its more likely to hit their shoulder rather than their chin as you punch up. You need a good straight right against a southpaw to go down the middle, with Cotto's short arm and non-existent right hand, that was pretty difficult. The second option for Cotto other than outboxing him from the outside which he couldnt do because of the reach, height and speed of Trout was to go inside and bully him. The problem with this second option is, Trout is the bigger man, hard to bully him. Usually you can see Cotto the much stronger man in fights who can throw fighters around, he couldn't do that with Trout.

Bad matchup. I think Canelo stops him btw.

War or back peddling didn't work anyway so...
Diaz lives to train another day should Miguel choose to continue.
