Now, Peterson may or may not have juiced, the story given seems to have satisfied the IBF. Whether thats because he told the absolute truth or whether its been a "lets brush it under the carpet" job we can only speculate...as is already happening here now! I'm not suggesting either way that something like Petersons promoters offered a lucrative back hander to the IBF or anything like that cos we all know the IBF are angels. <cough> ahem. But anyway... Now Peterson has got away with it or had a close call thru a genuine misunderstanding does that make him extra careful in the future to make sure there are no dodgy repeat prescriptions from his doctor? All speculation of course we don't know...but when a fighter gets a close call surely there is no 2nd chances for excuses genuine or not? Whether Peterson is guilty of wrong doing or not I dunno, but I'm all for giving guys a 2nd chance...but next time thats it! Whaddya think? Close call...can lightening strike twice or will he be more careful next time? Is this kind of publicity scaring other fighters off the juice....ones that maybe actually be on it but are fearing getting caught as so many seem to be seem to be in the last couple of years?
all these steroid abusers have a ready made story for if they get caught and peterson is no different, i would never give these cheats a 2nd chance, i would make them serve an immediate 5 year ban. look at the bull**** excuse that roy jones attourney came out with a full 3 weeks after the failed test about taking ripped fuel. the people in the know (IBF and the commisioner of the fight) never validated ripped fuel as a legitimate reason for the failed test, yet roys team report that to a few journalists and here we are 10 years later with roys fanboys and other ill educated people stating that ripped fuel was the legitimate cause without an ounce of credibility to their statement and trying to pass it off as fact.
I could be wrong, but I don't think Peterson has a promoter. It wasn't a dodgy prescription from a doctor. The problem came from Peterson and his team not reporting it in the first place. If he truly does have low testosterone levels, he will keep taking the drugs and he would have every right to do so.
You'd half to go full ****** to try to cheat again after getting popped but then again Peterson and Berto were the ones who asked for testing so they clearly aren't too bright or really didn't know they were doing anything illegal. Berto and Peterson will be under so much scrutiny in the future that cheating will be near impossible. Still they should serve suspensions and get punished for their cheating. It's BS that Peterson is getting a fight before the years out with no punishment.
Watch his fight against Bradley, then watch his fight against Khan. Now look how much stronger he is physically. He cheated. I think in the first instance a 1 year ban should be apt. 2nd time 3 year ban, 3rd ban for life.
I think that sounds about right! ...or on the other hand the boxing authorties/governing bodies could do what they did in body building and say "what the heck we know your all juicing so forget the drug testing and do what you like" then its a level playing field again. Maybe its just something dark that they don't want to admit. I do think PEDs in boxing are rife...and a few insiders have said as much.
