Colorful fighter out of the UK I believe. Saw him described as the heavyweight Prince Naseem. Pretty apt.

Supposedly he knocked Vitali Klitschko out cold when Reid was still a kick boxer, though I don't think the event was filmed.

To further drive home how hard the man could hit I've read that he hit a guy in the arm and dislocated the damned thing.

I've only seen a few of his fights, personally. One where a past prime Orlin Norris blasted him out, which made my day.

Yeah, his chin really was bad.

Especially since John, while pretty skilled for a domestic boxer, never has had much of a punch.

Pele Reid seemed like he never properly made the transition into boxing and it cost him in his defence. Bad chin + bad defence = trouble.

you got to remember that pele reid had just been starched by francis, and had fought no one anywhere near as good as norris or on that level. yet in his comeback fight he comes against a big hitter and got pulled apart becuase of it.

but yeah typical case of out of prime vet takes out a guy who pretends to box.

i feel the bad chin issue was just the cherry on top he wouldnt of made it big. he was a decent sized heavy but why on earth he picked ingle i dont know. a more orthodox solid trainer to keep his hands up and left pumping would of done alot of good.

in kickboxing he was a beast, he beat a guy from my hometown of brentford in 30 secs. tall lad in green/yellow trunks marching down to the ring stared down at his puny part time opponant and bulldozered him brutally.

it's strange becuase in K-1 and brit kickboxing cards he showed a decent enough chin.
