He is now retired and will concentrate on his retail business. However in the mid 1990's how many of you got carried away (just like Tyson Fury today) and tipped him for the top?

The fight I was waiting on was Pele Reid v Danny Williams. How wrong was I

loved it when he use to come into the ring with his brazil flagged shorts...an boy was he flexible doin his high kicks before dishing out his licks....
pity about his chin though....but as you say he was always the entertainer!?

Against Wayne Lewellyn he looked the business. It is a shame he went in with Julius Francis at that time. If he had been allowed to develop further with tougher journeyman his career may have turned out different. Who was the wise guy who matched him with Orlin Norris straight after the Julius Francis defeat?

A few mates of mine who do martial arts told me about him and i must admit first time i saw him box he looked the part.He seemed to lose confidence after his first loss.He was finished as any kind of prospect after losing to Jacklord Jacobs,i was suprised to see him make a comeback.I wish him well in his retirement.

Used to love him coming in in his brazil colours when I was a kid.

    Good luck to him.

I remember he emerged around the same time time as Danny Williams was building up popularity and, at the time, Reid-Williams was supposed to be one of the big British heavyweight rivalries of the future. Shame it never turned out that way.
Best of luck with the business Pele, and thanks for the memories. :good

With a bit of smugness, I can say I never fell for the Pele Reid hype and called Francis to beat Reid in eight.....

I guess even I overrated Pele!;)
