    What Penalosa showed was a bit of selfishness. It makes no sense to take that kind of punishment. Roach has been through it and didn't want to see it happen to one of his fighters. He basiclly said forget about my family and loved ones. The expression too much pride will kill was not going to be true as long as Freddie was in the corner.

    Freddie did the right thing, he knows first hand the worst effects of being on the receiving end of too many punches throughout a long career and i'm sure he wouldn't wish it on anybody. Penalosa is one of these guys who is genuinely 'too tough for his own good'.

    more than that. marg was the bigger guy in that fight while gerry was the smaller older man going up a weight. gerry is truly made of rock. marg on the other hand had rocks.
