Peneak Sitnumnoi Defeats Sam-A by decision

I saw this on liverkick late last night, great fight report, really enjoyed it. Sounds like a hell of a night that had everything topped off with a rare upset!!! Wish I was there, I can smell the sweet linament oil from here!

This is a big win to Peneak. IIRC they had fought before when both were very young....

I know Peneak is bigger, but even so a win over Sam-A is a very good thing to his resume.
Can´t wait to see the video......

Also, the card had some big fights all together....

Thanks for finding and posting the fight Vic. Great fight really enjoyed it had a bit of everything, good build up, interesting style match up, and a dramatic ending. I had the way more technical Sam A just ahead going into the 4th. He was definately giving a fair bit of weight away though, not to mention height and reach etc. He was fighting brilliant going into the 4th, close but doing enough.

Penek, way less technical but brutally effective really stepped the pressure up in the 4th and got in what he had been looking for since the end of round 2, a vicious elbow. The commentator mentions how he is famous for knees, elbows and high round kicks to the neck. Great win for the Southern native of Pattalung (U know how I like southerners :yep), Thailand’s new man to beat. :scaredas:

It was interesting listening to the commentary cos the commentator kept going on about the beauty of Sam A’s style and the very very ugly yet effective stalking style of Penek. You are right Vic, he mentions that these guys fought along time ago at 119lbs, but rather annoyingly he doesn’t say who won!! !:fire
But I think Penek one the first, just by the way he was talking.

The commentator also goes on about how there are less Southern boxers but when they are good they tend to be very good and fiery. This is a commonly held view in Thailand that Southerners have fiery personalities, I can attest to that being true as my wife is a southerner and the southern boxers I’ve known tend to be very soft and calm outside the ring but absolute seek and destroy merchants in the ring.:devil

Not to take anything away from Penek, but for me Sam A is still the better fighter, too much stacked against him in this fight, weight, height, reach etc. A massive risk for him to fight Penek especially with his long unbeaten stint going into the sportswriter’s award, a big deal in Thailand. But once again a Thai fighter shows us the amazing powers of recovery they have. Sam A gets taken down by a brutal elbow springs right back up and goes to war. Take it from me Thais are very very very hard to knock down in the first place even with flush shots let alone expect them not to get back up again, they’re like machines. The relentless police terminator in Terminator 2 comes to mind.

Well this highlights just how risky the fight was for Sam A in terms of what was at stake, winner takes all.

Great teep or push kick, pin point and perfectly timed with great power. He was using it really effectively in the fight particulalry through the 2nd round on Penek's left leg to check him and stop him from setting himself, great fighter.

Here's the Singdam v Nong O fight on the same card. An intetesting little dust up, not as good as the main event. I thought O had a great 4th round, which as the commentator states is usually his best round.

Dam is massive at the weight. :shock:
