Before i start i wanna say that BJ Penn is my idol , he was the inspiration for me to start training and fighting MMA and i say this with a heavy heart .

Before a punch was thrown , evaluating body language and the shape the 2 fighters were in , i turned to my friend and said , i beleive this will be BJ Penns last fight , as a relevant fighter !!!

And i was right , there are a multitude of reasons i beleive Penn should retire now , here i go , he cannot make 55 anymore , while he can boil down to the weight , his body can no longer perform as he wants it too @55 :deal , his mind set , if you remember when Penn lost to St Pierre the 1st time , he reached a cross roads then , he reached a do or die moment in his career , the LW division was back in the UFC and Penn had his angle to bounce back amongst fighters his own size !!! , well he's here again , this time amongst better athletes who are hungrier than him , Penn has always had a hard time getting up for the best fighters in the world , how does he get up for fighting people like Guida , Griffin , Sotiropolous ??? that aint no dis respect to them guys , there all world class fighters but where does Penn's motivation come from to get the work done in the gym for these guys ??? :huh

His corner , there has always been huge question marks over Penns corner and his training partners , i think the advice Jason Parilo was giving Penn in this fight was more than enough to say , if BJ does continue , he has to drop virtually his whole training team , again Rudy Valentino , what are his credentials ??? , compared to some of the top camps in the world camp Penn apart from BJ is an average set up ..................

His age , like ive eluded too Penn has been here before , when he was 27 , he's now in his 30's , his body is on the slide , back then it was easy to say ok now is my time , well imo BJ's time is now up , he's had his run and he's had the most physically out of his body he can get .

The big fights , for me BJ Penn belongs in one place , the number 1 , top of the bill , name in lights , even a co main event is an insult to someone like Penn , if Penn cannot fight at that level , id like to see him retire , it hurts and its a bitter pill to swallow , but i beleive that to be true :|

BJ Penn best LW in MMA history :deal

    Thoughts guys ??? ......

I was just thinking about what is bj next move? Does he move up to 170 or stay @ 155. The bad thing about this 2 weight class is that both champions has penn's number. GSP and Edgar are both 2-0 vs bj.

    what's next for him?

I agree I think BJ needs to make a training camp change. The guy isnt learning anything knew and his coaches arent pushing him. Right now all he has is guys kissing his ass saying your the best your the best but hes been doing the same things in training for 10 years and in a tough fight these guys dont know what to tell him the communication was embarrasing tonight. BJ has to step out and go to a place like AKA and train with cardio beast like Fitch and Koscheck or some of the other great camps out there.

I found it funny watching his training on the countdown show and seeing numerous times him jumping off that cliff into the water. Like that was ever going to help him in the fight.

He clearly has lost all hunger and it seems he is probably finished as a top fighter.

I don't know how such an experienced big event fighter could let 3-4 rounds go by getting thoroughly outclassed standing up before trying for some takedowns to change the fight with his famous BJJ on the ground. And when he did try to take Edgar down he looked just as ineffective as in the 3 three rounds. He also got taken down fairly easily, which is something I never thought I would say about BJ Penn. He looks finished to me.
