I think The UFC should headline a show with:
    Nick Diaz vs Rory MacDonald
    BJ Penn vs Nate Diaz

BJ Penn used to be the best fighter in his division but the sport moves on and fighters improve.

BJ Penn has been doing the same thing and not improving for years, there was a time where he could dictate where the fight took place come in without a game plan and beat the other guy anywhere. Penn needs to figure out a game plan and maybe find better coaches / not train himself.

If he did that would be champ again.

Penn hasn't trained in a camp since his AKA days , its not the way he does business , he's an islander , the very least Penn can do is get in shape , and by shape i mean real shape !!! the sort of condition he was against Florian and Sanchez , easy for me to say sat behind my laptop , but I'm not a former world champion

Besides , i don't think Penn's coming back and if he does it will certainly be at 170 , unless him and Dana know something we don't , and if that is the case BJ no doubt will poor it out on BJ.com at some point

Just a side note here , the Penn that fought Florian and Diego @55 , would be a handful for Ben Henderson and most others in the division , intact he'd still KO or tap most of the current top 10 , i think he'd demolish Gil Melendez who is viewed by most as the #2 LW in the world , and a P4P entry by some

No. He has to work on his cardio and conditioning. That's all. Where else does he have to improve?

Takedowns? The guy has taken down everyone he has tried to, even took down GSP in the first fight and Fitch repeatedly.

    Grappling? Please stop.

TTD? Edgar got him down because BJ was **** in that fight and Edgar was too quick. Otherwise, he is Alpha in this category.

Striking? He can be more versatile, but his boxing is still top notch in MMA.

Are you guys factoring in that Penn has lost a step in speed and suffered beatdowns by huge WW's in round 3 of Fitch & 2 & 3 of the Diaz fights into this at all?

Penn hasn't lost a step in speed , he is just slower @170 , thats been proven in the past , even after he was a LW in the UFC's earlier days , the fact is , his hand speed / movement depends on what weight he's fighting at , he's never looked sluggish at 55 , even against Frankie Edgar he wasn't sluggish , he was just not as quick as Frankie

No , is the answer to your other point , and its a good point , which is why i think BJ Penn will never fight again , regardless of rumour , and if he does , it will be @170 certainly not 155 , unless he has a good 8 months worth of training camp

The "beatdown" in Rd 3 of the Diaz fight is overrated, that was more back n forth. The 2nd round however was hellacious.

We don't know if he has lost step, until he actually trains his ass off again and committs 110% to fighting. Then we'll see where he is at.

I'm gonna go post on BJ's facebook page that I want him to do the following:

Call an MMA camp (such as Jackson or AKA) and work out arrangements to spend the entire month before the fight there.

Call Dana White and tell him you want to fight the loser of Nate Diaz/Jim Miller.

    Finish them via RNC

Call out any top 5er in the post fight interview.

    Finish them via RNC

Call out the current champ in the post fight interview.
