Not a shadow of his former self...not yet . (it's not as bad as Nogueira or Filipovic)... And he'll probably beat some good competition in the future. But his best days are behind him...it's starting to show.
Your not bringing out the "shot' card are you? Edgar was to fast for BJ and that's the first time in many years when a guy has been faster then him. Edgar had great footwork great gameplan and great wrestling and was able to nulify anything BJ could do. BJ appeared clueless of what to do with him.
I thought the first fight Edgar was lucky to win, thought Penn was just a little rusty but Frankie really put BJ in show today. He's ability to stop the takedown his diminished so quickly, makes me wonder what Maynard would do to him.
no edgar is just quicker and a bad match up for penn. Put penn in there with maynard and i bet he beats his ass.
He walks around 165-170 so he's not cutting alot of weight to get to 155, People have to give credit to Edgar instead of talking about BJ.
Maynard style is good for penn. Slow but strong wrestler. Edgar is a better striker than penn and is quick. Maynard is not known for his speed but he is known for his wrestling. Look at what penn did to the 2 wrestlers he fought.. stopped them both diego-sherk.
Diego is NOT a wrestler and Sherk had a boxing match with Penn and lost . Dan Henderson is a wrestler and so is Sonnen do you consider every wrestler having the same ability?
I give Edgar credit and thought he would win this.. But Penn needs to move to 170 now more than ever, he mentioned moving up a weight class earlier this week.
Maybe but I dont think so he looked amazing in recent fights vs anyone not named GSP. Thing about Penn is he is mentally weak hes had it easier then most guys and I cant recall any fights hes had to really dig down to win and actually win. Frankie is a great wrestler, extremely fast and well skilled and BJ cant get into any sort of rhythm vs him and when he knows that he breaks.
