It dimmed when he got manhandled vs Hughes in their second fight and again when he got ragdolled by GSP. He'll be back. Most of BJ's problems are mental anyway. He just doesnt adjust at all and doesnt even try to. Talent will only get you so far. Ring intellience wins fights.
It does look like Penn has a problem ad******g. The problem this time was that Frankie step his game up and BJ couldn't adjust to that. The same way he struggled to adjust the last time round. I think he gets a bit hard headed trying to knock someone out. BJ was facing a mover. He needed to kick his legs and **** up his body. As soon as he becomes more static then you can go to town on his cranium.
BJ has nice hands. Heavy hands even. But he has zero head movement, he walks forward in straight lines, and theres no variation to his striking in order to get his opponent to the mat if he's standup isnt working. BJ should be using his hands to get guys to the mat so he can kill them with his Jujitsu. Not standing and trying to trade with a guy like Edgar who has quick hands and quick feet.
I agree. He is durable, strong, heavy handed and it worked so well for him but when it came up stuck he couldn't adjust. He couldn't move his head, variate his punches, use his kicks, work the clinch, take the guy down for the sub etc
