    Wha?!?

Penalosa is not a master boxer.

He had one thing last night, a counter right. One thing.

come to think of it I don't think Lopez could have fought a better opponent for his development as a fighter.

you've got to watch more of his fights. This guy knocked out Jhonny Gonzalez out with a left to the body. He can throw any and every punch in the book and that includes lefts, rights, jabs, uppercuts, etc.

Don't get me wrong, i respect Juanma, but i respect Gerry even more for eating those shots.

He was even giving himself a round of applause and waving at the crowd :yep.

i dont think he's on the same level as Manuel Marquez but, he's certainly has elite boxing abilities, his counterpunching isn't on the same level, Marquez throws counter combo's, precise counter combo's at that, and i'd say Marquez is also a better ring general

he can box, theres no doubt about that, but a Marquez?, nah i dont no about that

actually i read that the other way around. I thought you said "JuanMa made Penalosa look like a featherfisted *****" :fire

Gerry didn't eat as many powershots as compubox says. Alot of those "landed" powershots are caught.

Penalosa put up a hell of a fight despite being up against a Bull last night. From a size /physical perspective, it was a mismatch, JuanMa was 1-2 weight classes bigger IMO.

Penalosa is a great boxer in his own right, and if he was the same size as Juan Manuel Marquez, he'd put a hell of a fight.

i ain't dispute that Penalosa wasn't a great boxer, but i am disputing that he isn't on the same level of Marquez, and as for him being the same size and putting up a good fight, i dont wanna get into that, becuzz he's not, that's like saying if Cotto was a S.middleweight he would of put up a great fight with Calzaghe, maybe...but he's not, so theres no point in really going into that, cuzz it just sounds odd

in my book, Penalosa is great boxer, but Marquez is an all time great boxer

Yeah, caught right in the ribs, the side, the face, the ear, and the chin.

I like Gerry, he was just outclassed. His best attribute last night was chin, it was his only shot of winning. Letting Lopez punch out, and then strike with a cherry counter to the chin to turn the tide when Lopez is tired and sloppy.

It was a GREAT GREAT fight for Lopez to build off of... he made some big mistakes, they COULD have cost him big in that fight. He got sloppy with the combos, and sometimes threw one too many shots, leaving himself wide open. He needs to give himself more space as well, he smothered too many shots.

Couldn't think of a better opponent at this time than Gerry was for Juanma.

A nice and educative win for a great prospect, but yeah, am a bit saddened that a talent and an ageless warrior of Penalosa's ability is now reduced to a cannon fodder at this late stage of his saga. :-( For his age, Gerry is a tough SOB to crack and would beat anyone his size.

I had become more a fan in this loss... :good

Time for Penalosa to retire and just focus on becoming the coach of Nonito.
