Exactly. It isn't confined to the one weight class is P4P#1 status as we both know, the whole point of it is to recognise who the best fighter in boxing is regardless of weight class, so anyone with half a grain of sense should realise that there is no such thing as P4P transferable title on the basis of that alone. It is a ludicrous notion that it can only be won directly in the ring!

But hey, maybe Beeston is right....maybe Hatton really does think he is fighting for the P4P Title atsch

 

Or maybe its just an angle to help sell a fight? If you listen to Hatton interviews (the boxing ones, not the **** ones that Betty trawls Sky Sports for each morning), he does know the sport. He'll know the P4P ranking not lineal, all that stuff is just a sales pitch.

We're 6 weeks out from the fight, we've already done this subject to death but I'm sure this is just one thread of many that will get started inbetween now and May 2nd.

I may have to seek refuge in the Classic Section for the next few weeks......;O)

But I thought that it wasn't 'all about the money for Ricky Hatton'...the fight should sell itself, given that he is fighting the finest fighter in the World but I suppose some would infer that Hatton should he beat him had become the best fighter by virtue of that win so....

However, I'm sorry Gaz, but this promotion does offend me and many others it would seem :yep Hatton has to lose for the good of boxing!

And Pac is not even an overwhelming considered p4p 1.

so Pac has jumped multiple weights and beat a number of top class opponents, while Hatton daren't leave 140 again as he clearly can't handle the next weight class up, while in his own he's beat a faded and semi-retired Tszyu...and who else, sorry? And he thinks he's 1 win away from being the best..., what a total clown the man is.

 

Hatton being P4P 1 doesn't have to be argued as lineal. He is currently a top 10 fighter and thus winning can make him arguably no1.

 

This P4P number 1 thing is an absolute farce.......

No-one knows this for sure......

Who is to say that Paul Williams, Shane Mosley, JMM, Hopkins, Adamek etc couldn't go up and down the weights IF THEY wanted and beat guys in higher or lower divisions???? It's all a fabricated title as if I was a boxer, I would want to dominate MY weight division..........




Calzaghe should come out of retirement just to mess up Sky's promotion of this!!!!

If this promotion genuinely offends people (are you REALLY "offended"???) then they need to toughen up/ wise up a little IMHO and realize that boxing is a business.

Of course the money matters, a professional boxer wants to maximize his earnings. Hatton has sought out the big fights but he's ovbiously going to want paying for them. No fight sells itself, they all have pressers, promo tours etc, Hatton has just made a 30 second ad to try and maximise the Sky PPV. Big deal....

I know this is the internet but does he have to defend consistantly every comment made in every interview over the last 5 years? Some people here are like housewives trying catch their husbands out after they've been for a night out...."But remember when you said you went to....", "But remember when you said you'd be home by...."atsch

 

It's not like we have to dig back 3, 4 or 5 years. Every single interview he spews bull****.

 

It offends me as a boxing fan yes, it is an insult to our intelligence.

I am happy the fight is taking place, however I can't recall say Jermain Taylor claiming to be P4P#1 on the basis of beating Hopkins. It is needless, the fight would sell as it is IMO.

It's just Hatton trying to bestow false accolades upon himself should he win and it's nauseating.

And what Taylor did or didn't do to promote the Hopkins fights is irrelevent TBH.
