Thr ship is being boarded now by those who called him a bum in the past etc... now he's great all of a sudden.. Hmm... I wonder why that is. Reminds me of Froch. All of a sudden all Aard fans became his biggest fans. Same with the likes of Hatton etc.. That's even worse in my eyes.
Good post Slender 4. I think Kovalev still has the skills. He just doesn't have the desire to condition his body into what it should be.
Ward won the fights regardless of excuses. Ward has 2 wins and Kovalev none. He can complain yet I think part of his problem was this stubbornness made him not want to improve.
Would you give credit to the fighter attempting to tackle you to the floor so he doesn't get KO ? All this with the benediction of the home ref, and then the pre-filled scorecards? He always had to watch Ward's headbutts and low blows because he knew the ref would be doing nothing to warn him.
That’s funny. I’ve seen guys try to put down Kov mainly to **** on Ward. It’s not like Kovalev has gotten the Linares or Jacobs treatment where these guys who really haven’t done anything make someone an ATG after losing. Look at their resumes and accomplishments and look at what Kovalev has done. Fickle people at best.
not on the record, and that matters. I always heard, Hearns beat Ray in the second fight. Not on the record. So he really didn't. Those judges mean everything. If the fighter does not try and get that decision regardless of judges who don't know how to judge, they don't win the fight.
lol at your extremely incorrect assumptions about fighters and when they peak. Haven't you been supposedly watching the sport for decades? Because all I'm hearing is A-B-C logic. There is no average. Every single fighter is different and unique in how they age, and it varies immensely between weight classes. Guys have peaked at 17 like Wilfred Benitez, where as fighters like Archie Moore, George Foreman and Bernard Hopkin's have fought until they were nearly fully 50 years old. GTFO out of here with you acting like your generalizing is accurate.
35 years is about what you get in boxing (or 15 years as a pro, whichever comes first). The skills generally go into decline at 33. A great fighter can prolong it to about 37. There are a few outliers like Paq, Stevenson and of course Hopkins and Archie Moore was in a class by themselves, but as a general rule of thumb it is 35. Reading is fundamental, Sport.
I thought Kovalev did enough to win Ward I. DID ENOUGH being the important phrase there. He wasn't dominant, he wasn't impressive and it wasn't a good fight. I think he won more rounds than he lost but it was sloppy and debatable, it wasn't by any stretch a robbery. Ward then did what champions do, he gave him an immediate rematch. What else could he have done? The fact is that Kovey had 24 rounds to lay his hands on Ward and he could not prove he was the better man. As far as I'm concerned, that's that.
I read your **** man, it's just not particularly correct information and it's pointless to keep regurgitating it on internet forums as if it is fact.
