His style always put him at risk of being KOed by a puncher. He obviously had serious limitations, but before that fight his run of form had clearly earned him a spot in the top 10, even if it was a bit of a lucky streak.

I doubt he'll ever be champion, but if the loss doesn't derail him I'm sure he could get back in the mix

On the fight itself, let's not forget he was looking well on the way to winning, and I wouldn't be certain of Helenius repeating the trick.

If nothing else he's given us some fun fights so let's appreciate that.

I'm not going to write the man off, but then I never really rated him that highly to begin with so there's not a huge lot of failed expectations to deal with. He's a tough, come forward slugger with a high workrate, above average pop and a decent enough chin. Basically Arreola Mk II. He'll cause some guys issues and get beaten by others. He's a welcome addition to the HW division provided he can bother to train down to a reasonable weight.

He is taking way too many punches to his head. For the sake of his health and his family he should find another line of work or else learn some head movements....or both.

He was never top 10, you don't get into the current top 10 beating Szpilka, Washington, barely beating Martin and going the distance with a shot Arreola.

I agree, everyone loses, its what they do when they do lose is the real test. His game plan was all wrong, too much reaching/leaning in/standing straight up, I think he would have been better off bidding his time an working behind the jab (especially to the body) and setting things up, landing body shots and later on he probably could have taken him out. He really needs to work on his defense i.e., fainting ,moving his head and positioning. I think getting down to around 240 in weight would help also. Guys that rely on a good chin to get them through don't last long.

He was dumb for passing on the AJ fight. This guy really frustrates me as do all fighters who come in sloppy and out of shape. He can’t get out of the way of big shots. A puncher like Wilder might kill him. Maybe boxing isn’t his sport.

I would put all of these guys above Adam Kownacki. I think he is ridiculously overrated. I don't care if some of these are controversial.

    Tyson Fury
    Anthony Joshua
    Deontay Wilder
    Andy Ruiz
    Dillian Whyte
    Alexander Povetkin
    Oleksandr Usyk
    Dereck Chisora
    Joseph Parker
    Kubrat Pulev
    Luis Ortiz
    Daniel Dubois
    Oscar Rivas
    Joe Joyce
    Robert Helenius

Was grossly overrated because he was about to pad up Deontay wilder’s disgusting record, same as Luis Ortiz.

There's a difference between being overrated and overachieving.

A lot of people here don't seem to grasp that. It's been awhile since I saw a dude get hated on this much for the crime of losing a fight he was supposed to win.

They were fattening up kownacki to be fed to Wilder in another padded victory sold to the public as “dangerous” “the real deal” “on a rampage”

Behave yourself , he only overachieved at the buffet. Scraping past Charles Martin is no achievement.

Silly list in terms of stating Kownaki never should have been top 10

Helenius' only have way decent win in years was Teper who'd dropped off a cliff. No way in hell should he have been above Kownaki before they fought.

Many of the names listed have done **** all of note for years, and others are basically totally unproven.
In terms of any sort of recent run of form, and recent wins, Kownaki clearly deserved to be top 10 atleast a points.

Here's 12, in no particular order that I would say clearly rank above him based on ability and accomplishments. Joyce is probably at the bottom of the list and he clearly has a better resume. He beat Kiladze more convincingly and he beat Jennings who beat Szpilka which is one of Kownacki's better wins. He also beat a shot Stiverne which is better than a shot Arreloa as Stiverne beat Arreola twice.

There's others you could make an argument for as being ranked higher before this loss. Chisora, Rivas and Hrgovic. So at best he's 13th and worst 16th.

    Fury
    Joshua
    Wilder
    Whyte
    Povetkin
    Pulev
    Ruiz Jr
    Hunter Jr
    Usyk
    Ortiz
    Parker
    Joyce
