Clearly Pac is the favorite , however Diaz is a well skilled technician who can box and has extensive amatuer experience.
He is a big guy at 135 and while he has never lived up to his potential this man can fight. I dont think people realize this is a dangerous fight for Pac and not the gimme people imagine. I would not be totaly shocked by an upset its a possibility a real one. Diaz is being grossly underestimated on this forum. Diaz is a live underdog.

Diaz is a live underdog indeed. He's not the most skilled or talented fighter, but he's tough and has been at 135 and up for his whole pro career. Hell, he never weighed as low as 135 for a pro fight until 2005. He was over 135 and even in the low to mid 140s for a number of fights before then.

I'm not sure if Pacquiao's gonna lose some effectiveness going through the weights like he has. Plus, lately Manny's got me wondering if he's lost some of that fire in the ring. It might be the age and years or fighting, maybe the slik pajamas theory, maybe he's just trying to tweak his style for the purpose of longevity, but he seems more content to just cruise and not take as many chances, and is only ferocious in spots. For some fighters, like a Duran, that worked as he got older. But who has the bag of tricks, brains, slick upper body movement, feinting ability, etc...of a Duran?

true. i understand that david diaz is a former member of the usa boxing team to the olympics.

the explanation could be that most people on esb here have a feeling that he is one of the worst title holders today coupled with him edging a decision over morales whom almost everybody likes and feel should have won. i had the fight for diaz because morales clearly gassed during the last few rounds.

I cannot speak for the rest of posters, but I have to say that the reason that I don't give him a real chance to winning this fight is because he is not a great champ, as a matter of fact I don't consider (at the present) any of the 135 pounders being great champs.

Before Juan Diaz fought Nate Campbell, I said that the 135 division was weak, and I still believe the same..... nothing has changed except the fact that Diaz lost his title.

This is the thread I started at that time.

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39158

To summarize the whole thing, none of the so called champions (at the present) would have been champions in other eras and I am not the only one who thinks that way, many people think the same.

If David Diaz wins tomorrow, that won't change my mind that he's not a great champ. He would have to do more than that. You might be surprised that I am saying this, but boxing doesn't start or end up with Pac. Beating one good/great fighter doesn't mean you are great.

    135 a weak division Thinman?

Pacman, JMM, Guzman, Campbell, Juan Diaz, Casamayor, Katsidis, David Diaz, prospects like Khan and Peterson, you don't consider that a strong division?

Wow, I can't even remember the last time we actually had to argue about whether the defending champion is even a live underdog in his upcoming fight? :hey

It's because he is facing Pac, and he is a B-level champ, at best.

I think the bout with Morales has something to do with it as well. Morales was shot when he nearly beat Diaz (and many think he DID beat Diaz) and Pacquiao had just obliterated Morales.

My gut whispered at the top of its lungs that I should go for the upset in the prediction thread, but I chose the rationale and went for a early TKO for Pac.
