At 33 yrs of age, and still know big fight. It's time for him to move on. Cotto and Canelo are living out there careers just fine with out him. While he's on the side lines chasing them. I think he should of went and fought Ward already. Win or loose, if he put up a good enough fight, he would of made the boxing world and casual fans, who follow Ward acknowledge him. Fans would then probably demand to see the fight with him vs Cotto or Canelo and other top fighters alike.
Then he needs to fight some one that casual boxing fans know. If he puts on one hell of a performance. The problem is solved. When the Russian rocky fought Tim Bradley, most didn't know who the hell he was. He changed that on fight night against Bradley. The same rules apply with GGG.
This board gets worse and worse. Grown men fighting over who is the bigger celebrity. I thought this was a boxing forum, not the OK forum. You are all also fighting over a medium (PPV) that is killing the sport. You claim that you are fans yet you applaud things that destroy the sport.
Go read some of the earlier threads "It was because of the Floyd/Manny debacle (Mostly because of Floyd's style) that turned many boxing fans off, they are hesitant to buy PPV's" :hi::hi:
GGG just needs a name....and a win to build a PPV following. No one knows Lemieux. And while boxing fans know GGG the masses don't. The PPV buys reflects a mismatch that fans were not willing to pay for. Honestly I could care less about the PPV buys.....as long as Golovkin gives the kind of performance he has over the last few years and continues to dominate the natural byproduct will be big PPV numbers. Guys like Nelo and Cotto may shy away from GGG....he's big, strong and skilled. Nothing financial will force either fighter to risk facing Golovkin at this point. Neither man is really a legit MW and titles don't seem to mean as much to these BIG names nowadays. GGG will just have to continue to clear out the middleweight division then think about a move north for fights that will generate the kind of buzz that will take him to that next level that establishes him as a US PPV draw.
