People don't generally believe Ward could beat a prime Calzaghe do they?

Ward, who has made a living off calling out Calzaghe for publicity after Joe retired (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-2201017/Joe-Calzaghe-called-Andre-Ward-team.html) seems to have some of the less educated members of the boxing fraternity ludicrously believing he could beat The Fighting Pride of Newbridge Wales. :patsch

Not only could Ward not beat a prime 'Zaggers, but he couldn't beat 'Zaggers now! This would be the equivalent of Zou Shimming calling out Vitali Klitschko. :deal

If Ward can barely escape Darnell Boone without a corrupt ref and corrupt judges in his own back yard, imagine what would happen to him fighting the consensus best Super Middleweight in history at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. :tdh

Prime Joe would absolutely dismantle Ward. Landing crisp combinations flush on Ward's gormless dome, and if the referee decided not to end relentless punishment, Ward would be in for the worst beating since Jeff Lacy got Lacyied™, with Ward's only rest bite coming when he fakes low blows and headbutts to take breathers from the 4th round on when he's unable to keep up with the incredible pace set by 'Zaggers. :ko

Ward would easily beat Slappy Joe, if a 40+ year old Hopkins can do it, Ward can too. If I'm being generous I'd give Joe a chance of winning 3 rounds.

Stopped reading.

Ward needs corruption to beat Darnell Boone but is gonna beat the best Super Middleweight ever :lol:

Maybe you need to go back to telling us how Porter v Brook was a robbery as that's less absurd than those 6 quoted words

“Joe Calzaghe’s a winner—that’s what you got to look at. Not to pat myself on the back, I have a lot more work that needs to be done and a lot more proving still to do, but I think that that’s one quality that I have. I just love to win and I just thank God that in each fight, even as an amateur, we found a way to win and that’s what Joe Calzaghe does. You can always nitpick and pry a guy’s style apart, you can find weaknesses on tape—we all have weaknesses—but at the end of the day, can he win? And Joe Calzaghe has proven over a long period of time that he is a winner—against sluggers, against other boxers, against whomever. So you have to give him his just due. Stylistically, I think it would have been a very difficult match-up and I have a lot of respect for the guy, but of course, as a young fighter and a young lion I feel like I could've hung with him and given him one of his toughest fights. Who knows maybe I could even have beaten him on one of his off nights when he was carrying injuries or hadn't done any sparring. But that’s something we may never know about. I don’t know if Joe’s ever going to come back and obviously I got a lot of work carved out for me in the Super Six, but that’s definitely a dream match that I would look forward to because you would have two guys who have flaws, of course, have a lot of good strengths, but two guys who are determined to win. I think that would have given the fans just a tremendous, tremendous fight.

here's what happens next:

1) SuperHans comes back with some hyperbolic, nationalistic nonsense. We see now his Zou Shming calling out Vitali in the first post (which I'm not sure I understand really. They aren't in the same weight class, but maybe he's talking about the perceived -- by him and him alone -- gulf in class between Calzaghe and Ward?)
2) A couple of responses from the American contingent to the extent of: Joe was a stay at home paper champ who avoided all of the biggest fights until he was ready to retire and even then the best names on his resume are two 40+ year olds"
3) then Bailey comes in and the phrase: Rusty, unwell, double vision suffering Kessler is Ward's best win, meanwhile Joe beat Kessler when he was undefeated and prime etc.
4) a Ward fan comes in and they essentially have the same argument that just happened in the Calzaghe vs Toney thread (only swap Toney for Ward of course).
5) SuperHans chimes in every once in a while with emoticons
6) the thread reaches 10-15 some odd pages.
7) in a day or two someone basically does the same thing again but with different wording.

Or! maybe I'm wrong and this thread will die in a couple of posts (which would be great).

p.s.-I'm aware that I'm 'contributing to this thread' despite voicing my eye rolling boredom at it.

Get over it, is that the only thing you can bring up? Ward beat Boone either way, it was a close fight but Ward was also only 22. Boone actually beat Kovalev, and knocked Stevenson out so even if he is a journeyman he has his moments.

Andre 'Son of God' Ward is missing a huge marketing chance by naming his fans his 'disciples'. Not because of the SOG bit, but because he only has 12 of them. :yep

The thread could end at the first post, however the deluded Zaggers haters choose not to read it and weep even though they know it's true.

I strongly, STRONGLY believe anyone with an iota of boxing knowledge does not think for one second that Ward could beat Joe. Just the same as people lie to themselves who say (but not actually think) Hopkins beat Joe like that stroker you've just been quoting.

But anyway, if you find this 'boring' maybe you could make some threads of your own that raise debate and you would have more than 10 profile views in 6 years. :think

lol. And 1 of them is going to betray him at some point too. So it's only really 11 when you think about it, and the sad thing is 1 of those 11 is his trainer Virgil Hunter, 1 is his pastor, and at least 5 of the others are his wife and their children.

5 children. Blimey. Ward needs to learn about contraception. There is just no need for that many children. :-(
