I see Andre Ward beating, possibly stopping Slappy Joe. The only way I see Slappy beating Ward is by slapping Ward's gloves and getting a British stoppage just like many of Slappy's opponents.

Took Joe several years defending his WBO title in Wales(honestly never heard of this country till mentioned on ESB) before he stepped up to Kessler..


Ward, arguably unknown green and timid beat a better more seasoned version of Kessler, took his belt in his first world title defense, sent him home back to Europe and had legions of his fans still crying to this day.

Ward beat a prime more seasoned Kessler when he was still green, timid and relatively unknown. This is the same Kessler that had his best win in Froch after being thoroughly outclassed by a retaliative nobody in Ward. Calzhage landed almost twice as many punchers in their fight. There is no way to make it out that Hopkins won...none. It is a myth that it was even close.

 

Here's the answer to your question: I'm not so busy that I don't have time to spare on a Sunday night to respond to a thread or two. It's not a big deal and it takes a minute at most (generally speaking) to reply. This argument has been done to death on this forum, really. Neither guy is active (one hasn't fought for five years?). So why the hell keep bring it up? Further, neither pro-Ward or pro-Calzaghe side ever comes up with any new arguments. So call it a draw and move on.

Erm. Boone didn't beat Kovalev, nor has he claimed he should have got the nod (to my knowledge) against Sergei - he has said that he thinks he should have got the win against Ward, but IMO he's wrong, even (generously) giving him 2 rounds on top of the KD would still leave him trailing on the cards.

Zaggy vs Ward woulda been a very interesting fight IMO despite the fact that I'm not a real big fan of either guy. As Ward points out in the comments posted earlier they are / were both guys who are good at winning or finding a way to the win - stylistically quite different, obviously, but that would provide much of the fascination in this matchup.
