People exaggerate how bad the Holyfield VS Lewis Decision was

The problem is that, that fight in particular had alot of attention. Not only from hardcore boxing fans but also from the general public. You had a chance to elevate boxing to another level and bring in more attention to our sport.

So when you had a blatant robbery it did a great disservice to our sport and was indeed a travesty.

Horrible decision one of the worst ever.

However the rematch was very close. Closer then the official scores.

 

It was a horrendous decision, Lewis gave him a terrible, one-sided beating. The second was actually very competitive, I scored it 7-5 Lewis but could arguably be 6-6.

 

We all know LL won comfortably and that good ol' fashioned true blue American bias nearly got Evan Fields the most undeserved of victorys. However it ended up being the best possible outcome for Lewis, as he got the immediate adiTe rematch and credit for two victories over Holyfield without becoming a contract slave to ATG POS Don King.

 

Lifelong Holyfield fan who admits he lost and could not believe those scorecards when watching it live.

 

One of the worst decisions I have seen. It was a one sided fight, certainly not a draw.

 

I agree with the thread starter, their first fight has grown into mythical proportion of a robbery.

Whilst watching it I remember having Lewis a clear 9-3 winner, but later watching it on mute, without LL cheerleader Ian Darke I has the fight alot closer LL winning by 2 rounds I think.

 

Lennox won both fights the second wasn't so one sided

 

The second dec was equally as bad as the 1st

 

So Holyfield got a draw and people think it's a deadset robbery. But 3 fights where the champ didn't even got a draw but the decision went the other way is not??
Yes, I'm talking Kov-ward, Gonzales-rungvisai and Pac-horn.
Make no mistake, I think Lewis won but a draw verdict is just bad decision, all it matters at times is just one swing round.
My sentiment is the same for Chavez-Whitaker.

 

Very bad decision. Kovalev/SOB was a bad decision, then the rematch when SOB landed three low blows to the testicles in a row and SOB's referee stopped the fight..................Pac/Horn was a disgrace and so many others, boxing is corrupt....................Kovalev worked hard for his titles, won them fair and square, then SOB came along and stole them by corruption. HBO will suffer for the crap..............

 

first fight was a shutout. people were paying me on our bets after the fourth round. then had to give it all back.
