People forget how Deontay Wilder ducked Wladimir Klitschko for years

Yup. It was clear as day they wanted a north american champion when Areolla was the only half decent american heavyweight and he kept getting into the wbc #1 spot again and again and again.

Wilder got given that belt.

 

There was no tournament. Stiverne was Vitali's mando , then Vitali retired and Stiverne faced top ranked Arroela for the vacant belt. Then Wilder fought Stiverne.

 

What was the alternative?

 

Wlad had an IBF mando to fulfill after Fury. I don't ever recall Wlad trying to fight Wilder. He could have postponed the WBA mandatory for a unification fight with Wilder.

They ducked each other at the time. Wilder wasn't ready, Wlad was in no rush to unify for some reason. He fought Jennings the first fight he had in the US in years probably to build interest and then lost to Fury. I think Wlad thought he'd beat Fury then unify the next year.

Wilder in that year was calling out both Wlad and Fury but did nothing to make the fight which of course is his modus operandi it seems.

 

Just that bit alone is worthy of credit whether the nex bit you said was true or not. Fury beating Wlad didnt do Joshua much of a favour anyway i think he was pretty much ashamed of the his Fury performance and for the 1st time in over a decade he decided to be a bit braver.

So why did they shoot Wlad straight in at #2 after he lost his belts to Fury?= Because they wanted the other K bro to fight for their title.

 

If Wilder wanted any part of Klitschko, he could have been his mandatory. But the thing is, that he didn't want any part of him after getting humiliated in sparring, so he chose the easier path and became Stiverne's mandatory.
