People forget how Deontay Wilder ducked Wladimir Klitschko for years

You were there?!

 

If Shelly actually said that, then Wilder had no business holding a title of any kind. You don't get to win a belt and claim you aren't ready for the best the division has to offer.

And sadly, here we are years later....Wilder's resume is still terrible.

 

I wouldn't say that it was a direct duck, as there was no official offer at the time, but Wilder and his team clearly done all they could to avoid the possible Wlad showdown, or at least prolong it until Klitschko is too old.

Wladimir was trying to unify with Stiverne, but the WBC turned down that request. Jennings was already set up as the WBC mandatory for Wilder/Stiverne before the fight even happened. Then, Wlad decided to fight Jennings himself as he was coming back to have a fight in the US, and he also wanted to clear the path for the future unification as soon as possible (right after his mandatory defense against Fury).

In the meantime, Wilder was nowhere near ready to actually fight Wlad, and he and his team were doing everything to distance themselves from the possible Wlad unification. That's how we got Wilder's ridiculous statements where he said how he was "in the driver's seat" for any possible negotiations and how he has "the most respectable belt", as well as mentioned Finkel's interview.

That is one of the reasons why I've always had reservations believing anything coming from team Wilder regarding either Wlad or Joshua.

 

They're scumbag hypocrits.

 

Wlad said the Wilder fight was bound to happen, try again.
