Mayweather fought in the pocket with cotto and traded with him and had Cotto backing up you think he would run from Pac who is smaller and is not strong as cotto?

You do realize Pac fought Cotto and knocked him out, right?

Yea but I am just saying that Mayweather is a beast when he decides to trade he has the choice not to because he has that skillset.

Sure and Pac is making his pro debut against Floyd, who knows what skills he has.

    Dumb ass thread

Floyd has no power. He knocks nobody out.

Floyd's best bet is to outbox Pac by countering him. Exchanging with the Pacman will get him into trouble.

If he has no power you would've seen a lot more aggressive fighters charge in recklessly and land their own without caring much for Mayweather's counters. Fact is, he does sting/stun them into thinking twice he doesn't further commit which is why you're deceived into thinking he lacks power.

Yes, but Pacquiao is an ATG. Stinging him isn't enough to keep him off i.e. every Morales, Cotto, Mosley, Barrera...basically every fight he's ever been in. A great example is the KD in Marquez/Pac 4. After being sent to the ground w/ a Marquez bomb (and we know Floyd doesn't hit as hard as Marquez), he still went into a slugfest and didn't become hesitant.

Mayweather can/may win, but I'm still not a believer that he has the power to make Pacquiao respect him. No one has ever gotten Pacquiao's respect and has been in there with some hard hitters.

but that's the problem! Pacquiao is at HIS BEST when opponents try walking him down! DLH, Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, Rios... ALL TRIED IT and Pac annihilated them.

I would LOVE for Floyd to walk him down for 12 rounds. Pacquiao is LETHAL when you walk him down cause he's too quick and can counter you with flurries. Pacquiao is most vulnerable when he's forced to attack, take the initiative and take risks... something JMM made him do.

    pls Floyd, WALK HIM DOWN!

I agree. Mayweather fighting toe-to-toe would be the same as Pacquiao going in there and trying to potshot Mayweather. You just don't go in there planning to use your opponent's greatest strength as your gameplan when you're not as good doing it...it's a recipe for failure.

If you honestly believe that a 147lbs Marquez hits harder than Mayweather then you are in for a shock. Sure, Mayweather won't follow up to KO or TKO Pacquiao but he will hit him hard enough to rethink about charging in. One thing's for sure, if Mayweather can't hurt him well enough to keep him off then Mayweather is definitely losing this fight.

I'm going to believe my eyes, Mayweather's performances, and opponents' review on Mayweather's power over you. Sorry. :/

Also, one thing to point out is...watch any fight. Notice how Mayweather is always being pushed back, even after he lands clean shot. He rarely keeps an opponent from coming forward unless it's past round 9 and the fighters are completely fatigued (Cotto, Mosley, Canelo). Anyone who has decent stamina though, it's always a different story. And for Cotto, Canelo, Mosley, I think the walking down is more of an effect from their fatigue and physical/emotional demoralization than Mayweather's power...because all came out looking pretty clean.

You act as though the 'fatigue factor' in those fights was an accident. It WAS the plan.

Those constant stabs to the body, lead rights/hooks and being forced to use a huge amount of effort (mental and physical) to get in position to actually land shots against a constantly changing, defensive master is what did it.

Give credit where it is due.

Ive always felt at this stage of their careers Floyd is going to use his size and stregth advantages

I really believe that Floyd will tie up Pac often, wear him down, rough him up etc
( and be allowed too )

Those opponents obviously lost against Mayweather and for reasons you can easily view and judge yourself.

You make it sound like those fighters dominated and beat Mayweather with that odd ****ysis. Sure he didn't fully back them off but they couldn't do much to get to him either because not only do his counters confuse them, but his movement/defense does as well. They did come out looking pretty clean yet it was clear that Mosley, who later admitted that he was shocked by Mayweather's power, was stunned numerous times and Cotto almost hit the deck face front in the 12th.
