Don't forget about your ban bet with me. You'll be gone May 3rd. :hi:

Yes, Pacquiao doesn't have great footwork. If that translates to "he has poor footwork" in your feeble little mind of yours, so be it. I would suggest learning how to read, but that's just me. Yes, to have "great footwork" you need to be "technically sound."

However, "poor footwork" isn't what I said. I said Manny Pacquiao doesn't have great footwork. It is technically flawed. I also said Ricky Hatton had better footwork.

It's hilarious watching you guys get all upset over your man crush, it really is. I literally didn't say anything bad about Pacquiao, I just mentioned his footwork "wasn't 'great" and that Hatton had better footwork.

Some fair points but I have to disagree with you on Manny's risk taking to be his only downfall. What you have to understand is that there are fighters like Roman Gonzales who are very offensive fighters but use technical footwork to get proper placement to land shots, Manny's 'risk' that you describe is actually him not having the ability to use proper technical footwork to position himself and instead using his supreme footspeed to get there. but footspeed can be conquered, Manny's in particular has vulnerabilities when he lunges in. I challenge you to watch his first fight with Morales. You can clearly see that Morales uses superior footwork by either making subtle steps outside Pac's lead foot as Pac tries to circle outside, or stepping his lead leg on the inside and hooking inside Pac's somewhat lazy lead hand, or even stepping inside and shooting his right hand down the pipe. This also negated Pac's ability to change angles like he wanted to. Some lateral movement from Morales too as Pac was lunging in that left Manny completely open and off balance, flying around the ring. I understand that Pac beat Morales twice afterwards, but it can be argued that Morales was already past it in their first bout.

It is important to remember that Pac's footwork isn't bad by any means, just pointing out the fact that he uses his footspeed to make up for his technical flaws, most of the fighters with better technical footwork were able to nullify Pac's techniques to an extent.

So you think that Pacs footwork hasn't improved in 10 years. The fact that you have to go back to a fight that occurred a decade ago proves you are wrong.

I watched both fights a few days ago actually. The first fight was purely maturity vs immaturity. It wasn't footwork so much as it was Pacquiao's inability to negate Morales's jab. Roach repeatedly told Pacquiao to push Morales on his back foot with his jab, but Manny didn't. Morales was able to keep Pacquiao at a distance, and Pac found out quickly that a straight left hand wouldn't be enough to find his range or get Morales KO'ed.

Second fight, completely different story. Pacquiao boxed him for the first half of the fight. He was crafty. He baited Morales into using his own reach against him. He welcomed Morales's jab, and used his quick footwork to cause Morales to over extend where Pacquiao would then counter with a few combinations. It was beautiful. It was a night and day Pacquiao. Pacquiao was much more busy with his jab. Not as a weapon, but as a distraction and to continuously bait Morales to jab with him. Then maybe 3rd or 4th, Pacquiao found his range and isolated Morales's jab.

Past 6th, Pacquiao had physically/mentally demoralized Morales to such an extent, that he was able to turn up the heat, stopped boxing as much, and began to apply pressure.

It wasn't footwork. I could sum it up as, first fight, Pacquiao was too one dimensional. He didn't know how to negate Morales's jab and that was his downfall. Since that fight though, Pacquiao has negated every single jab and reach advantage since then, to perfection, and has dominated those who have tried to use it against him. Emphasis on dominated.

Pacquiao also developed his right hook/right hook counter in the second Morales fight. Now Pac's opponent can't just simply circle toward his right.

Not all you see from Pac is lunging. He is stepping.

When you step forward with the rear foot instead of the front foot that is lunging.

    - People forgot that Pacquiao brutalised Cotto and won via TKO.

    - People forgot that Pacquiao Knocked Mosley down and had him on survival mode the whole night.
