People seem to forget that a little fighter in Pacquiao hurting bigger opponents and once they tasted Pacquiao's Power.

    - TKO Cotto.
    - Brutalised Margarito (Broken orbital bone).
    - Clottey (Covered up all night).
    - Mosley (Knocked down and on survival mode all night).
    - Rios (Got beat up).
    - TKO De La Hoya.
    - KO in 2 rounds Hatton.

right so Morales beat Pac because of his superior footwork but then later was too past his prime. Morales is the same age as Floyd so back in 2006, he was what 29? 9 years younger than Floyd, yet past his prime.

Where was Morales' impeccable footwork when he lost to Barrere, TWICE? A fighter Manny destroyed?

To me Pacquiao is a naturally very offensive fighter, he just has always been. Combine this with his remarkable talent - speed, coordination, athleticism and ability to throw punches from all positions at all angles, you have a fighter that relied too much on talent and not smarts. In some of Pacquiao's fights, he doesn't seem to be thinking, just throwing looking to overwhelm his opponent. Any fighter fighting like this is susceptible to counters and losing. I don't doubt Morales was smarter in their first fight but it wasn't footwork. When Manny lunges like he does sometimes, with reckless abandon, he may appear to be off balance because anyone would be off balance when lunging in like he does. If Floyd would be this aggressive and lunge in like this, he would find himself off balance and getting hit much more often. Manny has the footwork, it's incredible footwork, but having incredible footwork won't protect you when you are being reckless, stepping into the line of fire and lunging in as you say...hard to keep balance in these situations vs stepping back and being cautious.

Pacquiao was an instinctive fighter who didn't seem to use strategy much in the past. I've seen changes, he at times has fought smarter. He has fought his smartest fights vs bigger fighters he felt were dangerous - DLH, Margerito. Against these guys he wasn't lunging in, being reckless and taking too many risks. The way he moved, circled these fighters whilst picking his spots to unleash flurries (more cautiously) was ART, never have i seen Floyd employ such beautiful footwork. The fight vs rios was a masterclass in footwork and speed. Ruos could never find Manny, Manny was circling him and getting punches in and moving away.. he wasn't lunging and taking the risks he took vs JMM and morales. I think when has hades faced smaller fighters, he has been more reckless trying to TKO them but against bigger threats, he has been smarter and used impeccable footwork.

I can't stand the bloke but when he starts to walk his man down he is amazing to watch.

If he had spent a career doing that I'd probably be wearing a pbf T shirt.

Then again, I suppose if you'd had to listen to your dad and uncle slurring your entire life you'd be reluctant to fight more offensive.

He threw some beautiful PBF combinations in this one, you tell me he can't punch, some of those looping hooks around Miguel's guard were vicious and he almost dropped him with an uppercut in 12 which he'd narrowly missed earlier in the round, his offensive game is a joy to watch, but he rarely has to use it and of course we know he fights for the points, it's a sad thing but as he says ''smart'' even if the sport demands more from it's legends.

It's one of my fave Mayweather fights, see Maidana... it was just a dirty trench battle  Maidana is a battering ram who'll do anything to win, I don't mind somebody roughing Floyd up because you'll never win being pedestrian but at times it was difficult to watch, I don't root for either fighter in fights that's just how I roll, it goes how it goes, I found myself wanting Mayweather to deck Chino in moments, but he was trying to win and not giving him any respect and getting away with as much as he could, I never felt like that against Cotto, Hatton or Castillo. I did a bit against Canelo when he whacked him in the thigh and didn't touch gloves, that was not sporting... yeah neither was Ortiz, I always shake my head at that, headbutt was a **** move and he deserved one crack but not to end the bout. And yes I know Mayweather is deceptively dirty with his elbows, spoiling clinches and glove to the nose or damn near strangling the other guy at times.

Looks like Victor was indeed right anyone who knows boxing knew #48's footwork was not good one should never confuse being a good athlete and fast feet for good footwork.:deal #48 and good footwork should never be mentioned in the same sentence. You wouldn't find one trainer who would teach #48's footwork in any boxing gym. I'm finally glad we put to rest.
