First of all, don't get me wrong, I was just as fascinated with him as anyone else and now I do acknowledge that this dude is likely the real deal. I loved his precision, his composure, his technique, his chin, his balance, his style and of course his crazy power but aren't we getting ahead of ourselves when we say he demolishes anyone at 154 (****ing Mayweather!?), 160 and 168 bar Ward? For all we know, Proksa isn't all that and his win against Sylvester might've been a fluke. His punches were wide, his hands were down and most importanlty his balance was flatout horrible. Proksa seems to imitate RJJ's style just for the sake of it; I don't see how he profits from it at all. That said, by no means do I want to discredit Golovkin's win. Even if Proksa was not as good as advertised, you don't simply bomb out a top 10 MW just like that without being special. But better than Martinez and Geale though? Based on what? Keep in mind that Bute looked borderline unbeatable for most of his career until he shared the ring with a legitimate A-class opponent. It's Geale who outpointed an A level opponent last night - admittedly not remotely as spectacular but that's due to Geale being a light puncher - in a location where he was said to have little chance of getting the decision. I rate that higher than Golovkin's demolition of Proksa. Hard punchers like Bute, Lemieux, Lacy and so forth have come and gone and they all have raised attention by bombing out boxer who were not on their level. Now tell me, how would Golovkin bomb out Mayweather? Or Froch? Or Martinez? ****ing Ward? When have these guys ever succumbed to flurries like Proksa did last night? Who of these boxers would wait on the ropes to get tagged left and right? With all due respect, Proksa's morale was astonishing, the skill evel descripancy to the boxers in question is staggering though. I'm aware of his amateur pedigree, I'm aware of the sparring legends being told about him and by no means do I expect him to bomb like Lemieux, Bute, Lacey and so forth but shouldn't we be just a little more sceptic towards the hype generated considering what boxing history has tought us? For instance, I find his susceptability for left hands worrying. Proksa's accuracy was below average and yet his left hands had reasonable success finding Golovkin's nose. Furthermore, he'd be a small SMW and would give away a lot of power to these bigger guys. I could potentially see him do only marginally better than Abraham for example. But that's just me. All in all, I wish him all the best because his style is ridiculously entertaining. But this forum tends to exaggerate now and then.
He's Bute Mk II as far as I'm concerned, at least until he fights a live body. He is entertaining to watch though, no doubt about that.
His technical skill is pretty good, but without that freakish power, he honestly wouldn't be that great. But he's too easy to hit. IMO, Sergio and Quillin both UD him.
I wasn't too impressed with Quilling against old Winky Wright. I liked his precision and power but his workrate was remarkably low.
He is David Lemieux all over again. (euro version) Where is Rubio @?? Send him GGG's way to tell us the truth.
There is always a ****ing clown bringing race into it. Sounds like you are the only person concerned with what color the skin of the fighter is and has issue with him being white...:verysad
That's a real good shout :yep Like Faerun said too, (IMHumbleO) Proksas balance was fairly rough looking. Looked like he was trying to do a mix between the Sam Solimon "drunken sailor" and the Darchynian "crab".
Relax bruh, I'm not overtly concern with race, but it would be tough to imagine people here at ESB being this hyped about Golovkin if he was a Black American fighter from a city like Philly,St.Louis or any other boxing hotbed in America.
