That's a fair pount but it seemed the original poster is suggesting Joe defeated all styles of boxers and Ali didn't.

No offence I don’t think looking at boxing as a whole anyone could describe Bugner, Ellis or Jones as “skilled” more so then anyone else at their level they were good but not stand outs for those attributes IMO. Honestly look at it, at a whole their isn’t really any boxers on Ali’s ledger id imitate then the above mentioned Ellis or Quarry for “skill”

lol No - George Foreman might actually get KO’d himself brawling with a guy who signed up for 20 round fights and had as much or more power, close fight really between two heavyweight champs… unless you think he’s a super hero, Baer was when he was serious a top of the line fighter for his size.

He did but barely. Louis unquestionably has the best pre title resume.

The thing with Louis's title competition is they didn't stick around long enough to build the reputations Alis did. Braddock and Schmeling might have been getting old but most of Louis's best contenders were quitting in their mid 20s.

Louis's best win was Walcott. He'd be Ali's sixth best win.

Liston may not be the monster everyone makes him out to be but:

Granted, this is me thinking if all his wins were fair and square, then....

He was a great boxer and someone not to be taken lightly.

If Muhammad Ali has wins over some better fighters than Joe Louis beat, that does not necessarily mean that Ali would best Louis most times in personal head to head fights.

Three things in my opinion are beyond dispute -
    1. Ali had better competition
    2. Lous dominated much more than his competition
    3. They were both great masters

It is debatable who was better. I don't know, but I'm more and more inclined to give preference to Brown Bomber

Walcott isn't one of Louis's top 10 wins. Might not even be top 15.
