his pullcounter is to damn quick and accurate..his right hand makes fighters abandon the jab..you're not beating floyd with no jab

you definitely have a good chance with a solid jab when you are bigger then floyd, thats why i favour both winky and forrest over mayweather in fanstasy matchups. Also prime Oscar.

thats true as well, best way to fight a counter puncher is by pressuring the hell out of him, paul williams and margarito were not fought against and believed to have a chance against may because of it. Volume and pressure:thumbsup, size also matters.

pressuring floyd causes floyd trouble but damn does he adjust and fight..pressure fighters bring the best out of floyd cause hes forced to fight

Mayweather's already shown this to be false by his numerous wins over pressure fighters who were much bigger than him.

Williams and Margo present no challenge to Floyd and they never did. :deal

You need a multitude of skills to beat the best fighters in the game. Just like you need a multitude of skills to beat Manny Pacquiao, Wladimir Klitschko or Juan Manuel Marquez.

Just having a good jab won't get you nowhere.

Let us stress the word "good" before "jab" a bit more.

A good jab is PART of what could work. I don't think anyone is suggesting that the jab alone is enough.

The pull-counter works best against people who have less reach than you, or people with slower hands or lazy technique. I barely saw Floyd use it against Hoya, because Hoya was the bigger man, and had a great, stiff jab with decent speed. Floyd doesn't like that sort of jab. He found it much easier to counter the smaller, slower Marquez, and Shane, who isn't really a jabbing sort of guy.

The ideal jabber in this case would be a big guy, with good reach, speed and technique. Can you imagine Floyd trying, for example, to use the pull-counter against a Hearns jab? Roger Mayweather has also said that Forrest (RIP) would have troubled Floyd, and while I've barely seen him fight, I hear that he was a big guy with a good jab. Even smaller guys with great jabs could trouble him, like Whitaker. To repeat what I said earlier, the jab alone isn't enough...but it definitely helps.

Winky does have the best chance at beating Floyd IMO. You can jab against Floyd, but you can't get lazy with it and Winky doesn't do that

I dont want to turn this thread into who floyd duck and didnt duck so I wont go there.
But lets talk about it how do you beat a deffenive counter puncher, volume, pressure, size, jab are good answers in my book. I believe if paul williams had a better defense he would have given mayweather hell.
Its difficult to counter someone who throws a lot of punches and is taller. Floyd is a great fighter so i would never count him out but I do believe those type of fighters have the best chance against him.
    Hearns,oscar,winky,srl,forrest,margarito,williams guys like that.

Yeah but when you are talking Baldomir, Hatton and Gatti it all sounds a bit pathetic.

The answer is you need an educated Jab to beat Mayweather...A fighter like Vernon Forrest (RIP) WInky Wright...Would fit the bill because of the use of the jab...This will take Mayweather out of his comfort zone IMO.

Pressure, jab and right hand. That what Funeka used to beat Guzman in their 1st fight. It was like Kevin Garnett against mini me. One reason why Floyd doesn't fight anybody really tall
