Easy to say now after Floyd made all of them look foolish. Go back further and there are more examples.

IMO you need to be GREAT DEFENSIVELY to present a challenge to Floyd. Otherwise, your defensive weaknesses will be exploited and your advantages are neutralized.

    1. Elite Defense
    2. Size/jab
    3. Stamina
    4. Footwork/ring generalship

Basically, you need to out-Floyd Floyd :good

The jab is absolutely the key. All the trouble Oscar caused Floyd very early was based around the jab and when he started prodding with it he got eaten up. Sugar's jab to the gut is what opened up Floyd for the right hand that buzzed him from memory, could be wrong.

It's important because against someone very fast with great footwork, it's the shortest punch to deploy. You can make him run a little bit because he can't escape with small moves.

He's never beaten, and fighters have jabbed at him before, but I think it is the key punch.

you need a jab that can at least attempt to distract him, but it's not as important as every other punch is. you also need volume against floyd, because picking and popping with him will get you decisioned. add the ability to take a punch and come back for more, the balls to take chances, power and speed, and intangibles (pacquiao's rapid fire weird punching angles) and then you have a shot. that's why pacquiao is the only fighter in floyd's weight range who has a shot.

and so how you should fight Floyd. By trowing only power punches???? A good jab always helps. Or you think that Floyd is unbeatable??

You need a jab to beat Floyd. If you don't have one you ain't beating Floyd. Fighters like Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright would have given Mayweather serious problems. That is why I feel Mayweather will beat Pac. Nothing against Manny, he is a great fighter but does not have the skill to beat Floyd.

Yep. It was a jab to the body, which prompted Floyd to try parrying it, opening his face up for the big right hand. The second time he got rocked in the round (when his knees buckled) it was also a punch set up with the jab.

    Also:

When Judah hurt Floyd with that big left, it was set up by a string of jabs. The only two times Marquez had success against Floyd was when he backed him up to the ropes, feinted a jab, and threw a right behind it that caught Floyd flush on each occasion.

A guy that has a very good jab will give trouble to practically any style. If a guy's reach is inferior or somewhat similar to Mayweather's, then Floyd can probably be successfull with the pull and counter cause the fighting distance will allow him to be be.

If you have a guy with the reach of a Tommy Hearns that fights off the jab all night and doesn't committ himself to narrowing in the distance too much, then it becomes extremely difficult, even for Floyd !!
