THIS! I'm not a fanboy of any fighter but even Martinez said himself he was rocked in the first round and never recuperated.

This is not to take credit away from Cotto, but most boxing fans would say before the fight that Martinez had speed, power and reflex advantage over Cotto. Boxers who have these advantages don't lose them even if they have been KD in the fight. In the entire fight I thought Cotto was faster and stronger than Martinez.

Some say Martinez lose all those advantages due to his knee condition.

Can't get leverage on your punches with injured knees. Golovkins would have knocked Martinez out in the first round. Possible Golovkin/Cotto fight in the works for the future, HBO wants this fight. Golovkin by knockout.

Martinez didn't look like the same fighter that beat Chavez Jr. He's lost some speed, though that maybe due to the fact Cotto being a naturally smaller fighter is quicker than what Martinez is used to facing. He wasn't able to get off first consistently like he is used to.

Martinez has been on a steady decline for some time now, everybody knew it and we have seen plenty of fighters age over night, we have been so used to Hopkins defying time that we have forgotten this.

You have to give Cotto his due as well though. He looked fantastic and it's by far his greatest achievement. I would love to see Cotto/Golovkin.

MArtinez fanboys are full of excuses. Bottom line, Cotto is an elite fighter and Martinez is just a B class.

No, you just seen what a difference a trainer makes, in Pac-Cotto Cotto had a rookie trainer.

    Serg is overrated.

Cotto performed well against the best (Floyd). Sergio umm. I don't think

has fought anyone as good as Floyd. The last time Sergio fought a top tier

boxer was Margarito and he got KTFO.

    :rofl

As I work night shifts I didn't get to see the fight live....but have just watched it and am so happy with what I have just seen! I was rooting for Cotto but believed he should be the underdog (although not by as much as a gap as some people seemed to think)

I knew while watching the fight that this place would be full of people saying 'oh well, sergio was shot' , but to me, he looked no different than he did in his last couple of fights. Only difference was that Cotto was miles more efficient both defensively and offensively that Sergio's last few opponents.

I bet quite alot of the people on this site that are now saying Sergio was shot are the same people that before the fight were saying **** along the lines of 'Miguel has no chance, too small, this is an easy fight for Sergio even if he is a bit faded' but now they're boy lost rather than praise how good Cotto looked, they make excuses

He was obviously shot, unless you are 12yrs old and this was the first fight you have ever seen. LMAO
