What would vacating the title do for three G? The lineal belt would cease to hold any kind of significance after that.

Maybe he can get Darren Barker to come out of retirement while he's at it. There's got to be enough cripples in boxing to keep Cotto in business for a few years.

That's it gentlemen! Beat back those Cotto nuthuggers!

You don't have to be a Martinez fan to know these guys are full of ****.

:|Margarito had bricks in his gloves!!:| No Proof

:|Martinez was 100%, His knees were fine:| The man was damn near handicapped.

:|Cotto didn't punch Zab low several times on purpose.:| He was BADLY hurt.

    These guy are clinically insane.

I feel duped out of my money because Sergio knew he was in no condition to fight but still took it to cash out. He did no sparring and no roadwork (iirc) for this fight. That is not normal. His training was primarily bicycling.

Wouldn't you have done the exact same thing? Certainly knowing that it might very well be his last chance on a big payday.
And he probably was right because right now he has to decide between another surgery wich ends his career, or just go on with theraphy and hope for the best.

"Sure, my knees are 100%... those braces are there just in case, and I only wanted to use even bigger braces because they look interesting... Bring on Cotto!... Bring on the money!"

    I would :yep

Funny how anyone would think that someone coming into the ring with knee braces on both knees was 100% healthy. People must truly be re****ed to think he was totally fit. A boxer walking into the ring with reduced mobility due to leg problems is seriously dangerous for him, especially against an elite boxer like Cotto. Money is so important, health is much more! His handlers should have stopped him from fighting in my opinion. I'm sure he has enough money already.

You must be new here. Anyone that wins a fight when he wasn't expected to almost immediately gets no credit. Hopkins over Pavlik, Pacquiao over De La Hoya, Hopkins over Pascal, Hopkins over Trinidad, Mosley over Concreto... and many more are other noteworthy examples.

Cotto fans still angry noone else gives him credit for sniping a MW title in that fashion :conf

Sorry, if Cotto wanted mad credit as MW "Champion" he should have faced his mandatory in Rubio at 160 and beat him down instead of leaving that task to GGG. Team Cotto instead talks Bradley... we know what Team Cotto thinks about facing a 160 guy with more than one working leg.

On a related note, Roach's face when Steve Kim was interviewing him and was talking about Canelo fight when Steve pointed out that Canelo had two working legs was absolutely priceless.

good post, i remember between rnd 7-9 (cant remember which one) you see cotto walking back to the corner early as he knows he won the rnd and Martinez sprints across the ring to try and land a left hand so don't give me that bull**** about a bad knee!
youtube teddy atlas's prediction of the fight and he breaks it down so well!
he explains the fact that Martinez needs to move back before he attacks with a counter but cotto's strength is off a lead left hook, Martinez couldn't get out the way fast enough and what was the first punch that shook Martinez......the lead left hook!

Im so confident he was shot that if he comes back I know he'll get stopped by some c level journeyman in his comeback.

As someone said before. Sergio couldn't have been more shot if someone walked in the ring and actually shot him.
