well orchestrated career. He fought mostly guys who were physically smaller than him. Once he fought guys his own size and who weren't punching bags, he fell from the P4P list like a flash (pun intended). A good fighter but not ellite.

I hear you. Walters was just too big for him and Rigo just too skilled no shame in losing to either man.

All true except perhaps for the part about not being elite. He might not have been Mayweather or Pacquiao quality but look at all the big names he got on his ledger: Darchinyan, Narvaez, Marquez, Montiel, Arce, Nishioka, and he beat everyone but Rigondeaux and Walters.

He might have made a name for himself fighting physically smaller men, but hell, pretty much everybody does that now. Mayweather and Pacquiao did the same thing and got forced up the weight classes as they grew and couldn't cut all that weight anymore too but we don't hold it against them. Also, Erik Morales started picking up losses when he stopped cutting a ton of weight too. (Seems he was a natural 140 pounder.) It happens. With Pacquiao, he just managed to figure out a style that didn't rely on his power and he stayed elite even at welterweight. Anyway, I wonder what kind of weight Donaire was cutting at those lower weights.

Donaire definitely fell in love with his own power like someone has already mentioned in this thread. A natural bantam fighting flyweights is going to do some serious damage, but he was still lightning quick and had great technique early on. It was only a problem to rely on that power when he'd moved up to super bantamweight and wasn't stronger than everyone anymore.

I thought he was a top pound for pound until Rigo beat him. He should of fought Rigo they way he did in the 12th round from the beginning because he could not out box Rigo.

Donaire was a great counter puncher.
Somewhere along the line he fell in love with his power

He was good. But as soon as he fought someone up 126 boxers could take his shots better and no more 1 shot stop the fight. He struggled to look good if he had to go 12 rounds with featherweights.I think he just doesn't have great stamina or durability.
