My old trainer heard a kid call a fighter in the gym a bum. He asked him' Could you beat that man":?? The kid said " No" Charlie said " Then you have no right to to call him anything bot SIR Shall I go tell him what you called him""" Kid panicked said " No Sir please don't I;m sorry " lol
I think when the term is used its generally to disparage a talented fighters resume. When a skilled and gifted fighter picks om overmatched opponents we call the opponent a bum. Not really to make fun of the overmatched guy, but out of frustration of the cherry picker. The majority of pro boxers are very good at boxing in the grand scheme of things. Its just in comparison to p4p level guys they are out of their depth.
But it's truly bad practice (ethically) the way many talented fighters choose to fight such low level guys. Guys who genuinely could be living in their cars or something, like "bums." These are just poor people desperate to do anything for a paycheck. I don't know if it's actually a good thing to pretend they're boxers. The frequency of mismatches in boxing is gross.
Muhammad Ali called Joe Frazier a bum ''That Joe Frazier’s no world champion! He ain’t nothing but a bum!’ he began shouting in the street. ‘I’m gonna whup him, you’ll see.’ So Frazier knocked him on his bum for calling him a bum This content is protected So as you can see even the greatest fighters have had to pay a price for calling other fighters bums
Most people call c or c- fighters bums tomatoe cans cab drivers ect.. nothing new , but I guess it will be better to call them c- instead of "bums"?
Thank you. Bums and feather fist are two insults which wind me up so much. Easy to say behind a computer, but I guarantee if any of these boxers load up on us forum members we are sleeping for a long long time
