But if you put his fights with brewer Reid etc in perspective of competitiveness and meaning in the division, would you say they were more or less meaningful than floyds last 5 fights ?

    Yawn.

Floyd beating Canelo/Cotto > any name in Joe's ledger. This win just keeps getting as years go by.

    That's a fact.

Maidana 1 was also a great great win, Guerrero underrated

Floyd is so far ahead of Joe in the ATG standings, it's laughable!

Nope. Floyd will rank ahead of Pac and Hopkins when it's all said and done. :hi:

You clearly can't comprehend what I'm saying.

A win over Hopkins > A win over Cotto, Canelo, Corrales etc.

Calzaghe's opposition is good. People that attack these guys on the forum, what perturbs them is the difference between their own ability - the standing they are held in - and the ability of the opposition.

So Floyd and Calzaghe both have the same problem. The comparison is reasonable because Floyd hasn't challenged himself properly and neither has Calzaghe. That Mayweather has competition that is a good deal better is sort of cancelled out by the fact that Mayweather is a good deal better.

SO making the comparison is reasonable, even if the OP has done it for a different reason.

The point I'm making is that rather than how good the opponent is skill wise etc is that calzaghes ducked no one and beat who was available.he tried to make Hopkins jones even pavlik and through no fault of his own other than he was high risk low reward to them they wouldn't fight him, ottke is the only other fighter but he would only fight in Germany where judging is more corrupt than America and there was little doubt who was better anyway,he faced the best he could, his fights did actually serve meaning, canello was a very good win I'll wipe that off but fights against maidana a super blown up Marquez,Ortiz and guerro where just pointless, what do any of them fights add to his legacy ?
He fights fighters that make him look great,he doesn't test himself against fighters that would prove his greatness

How can you say that a guy who has won championship in 6 different division has not challenged himself. Its one thing to hear statements like this from trolls but from mod?

    Nope. YDKSAB

Floyd's win over a PRIME Hatton/prime Corrales/prime Canelo etc etc will rank higher as years go by. Those wins are insane.

How would you feel if I told you that Hopkins ranked Mayweather top ten along side Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali.:think

You know how. You know the answer to that question.

The second best fighter of his generation shared his division/approximate poundage for much of his career. I'm equally hard on Dempsey for not fighting Wills; there are other examples. There is ONE fighter in Mayweather's class and was Manny Pacquiao; that he missed out on him affects his legacy, brutally.

It will affect his resume negatively by a great mile, but that goes for Pac as well. It affects Pac just as much when people look back.

    A shame.

Similar to if Pernell did not fight Chavez.

Haha. The doofus entirely missed what you were saying. Not surprising really. One day i might start a thread claiming Floyd Mayweather Jr. Is much better than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Just to confuse the hell out of him as he tries to explain why Floyd would dominate if they ever met.

    Of course.

But because Mayweather has come out the higher ranked of the two in a historical sense, he is hurt more - because the sky is legitimately the limit for him if he beats Pacquiao somewhere around Pacquiao's prime.
