Why was he wanting to fight a MW in Hopkins in 2002? He didn't try to fight Roy. He didn't even fight in Roy's division. He wouldn't promote himself in the U.S. He was content to defend his WBO at SMW for as long as possible. The Pavlik situation was bizarre. After Joe had beaten Hopkins, people wanted a Pavlik fight. Joe's response was that in his opinion, Pavlik had done nothing to deserve a fight with him. Yet he then admitted that they'd offered Pavlik a fight after he'd beaten Lacy in 2006. So how on earth did that make sense? When a Pavlik fight seemed relevant in 2008, Pavlik hadn't done enough. Yet they they actually offered him a fight two years earlier, when he'd obviously done even less, and was only a NABF champion. Ridiculous!
utter rubbish, calzaghe has defended against largely nationals or below, and struggled with them Floyd has always fougth those close to world level.
I'd imagine they could of lowballed Kelly then as he wouldn't have been in a position to argue but I don't know. What I sure of is that the Welshman would have beaten the brakes off of poor Kelly in what could of been a fun fight. Shame it never happened.
they never happen when Joe C is involved. all that ever happened was Kessler, and to a minor extent lacy, because they were willing to accept joe's hometown setup whree they wuld get stopped if they slipped, and because joe had a long look at his life and realised he'd done nothing and he was suddenly 35 years old.
Hatton got damn near killed by Manny and came up in weight to fit Floyd. Corrales was a bum. End of. And he was weight-drained. Canelo? What has he done for crying out loud? He was like 37/40-0 and his best win was over Matthew Hatton. Bernard Hopkins is a true ATG. Someone who will rank higher than Floyd due to how long he has been dominant for. Jesus, Hopkins was getting told to retire in 2001! And he's still here! I'm 100% certain you are a member of Floyd's entourage or very close to him as a friend etc. Your bias to the man is frightening, it genuinely is. And your knowledge of the sport could be written on our thumb.
Are you somehow suggesting that those guys would have beaten him of the fight had taken place somewhere else? If so you need to find another sport. You know as well as I do that Kelly would have lost handily. Your hatred for the Welshman is astounding.
Why do people refuse to acknowledge floyd has ducked every major challenge at ww at the time it was relevant and has refused to face and is still bull****ting about facing his one main rival 5 years on from when it was relevant, making a joke out of boxing the fact that this guy is the main guy in the sport
shut up, you don't know if uninjured Kessler would not have edged out joe in Denmark.because it never happened, so you CATEGORICAALY CANNOT KNOW. Certainly in Cardiff Kessler was ahead till his hand injury surfaced. Dont talk about what you don't know, it needs saying. Especially in the same post where you suggest the OP doesn't know.
Of course you are. The truth is something a pac**** cannot handle. Do you want me to send you the link where he said it. Remember, the greatest compliment a fighter can get is that of another accomplished fighter.
I'd say without a doubt that Joe would have beaten Kelly easier than Bernard did. And he'd have gotten lots of credit. But how could he tell the media he hadn't done enough in 2008, yet they'd offered him a fight in 2006?
Difference is that MOST of Calzaghe's opponents weren't handpicked to make him look good. It was always a situation like "Well, the other beltholders won't fight me so I'll just beat up on whoever's ranked or mandatory." Mayweather's just like "F*ck it, I can fight whoever I want. Give me that slow-ass Spanish-speaking dude."
That's because most of the guys he fought did nothing to elevate his legacy outside of the number of defenses !
I don't like Floyd, but Joe was more than happy to face who the WBO lined up for him. He was made to fight Veit twice, even though he'd already beaten him in a round. He was content to fight for a joke of an organisation.
