Like I said, he was kind of stuck there. iirc, his peers were Ottke, Lukas, and Beyer and he was consistently shut out of unifications. It wasn't exactly the glory days of the SMW division
Was the WBO even recognized as a major title when he first got it or only part way through his reign? I forget...
This is a typically hysterical post. Calzaghe fought some really good fighters. He tended to be a clear victor. Mayweather fought better fighters - but is a better fighter. Mayweather very often did not meet the best available. All of this is indisputable fact. Goodbye.
I don't think it really matters. I mean WBA is recognized as such and is a bigger more ridiculous joke that the WBO ever was. I think i'm right in saying the WBO was born from WBA infighting actually.
there is no comparison about the competition between the two fighters... any idiot who is going to argue about who is better is a moron.. I actually just had fun typing that
It was a lightly regarded belt. Hearns and Leonard fought for it in 1989. Yet a decade later, it still wasn't required to unify a division. It also became a laughing stock, due to the following links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darrin_Morris http://assets.espn.go.com/boxing/columns/graham/1097210.html :good
That's not the point being made.the point is joe fought the best that was available to him whereas floyd doesn't and has time and again over looked his biggest rivals for inferior opposition.
True to an extent, but Floyd's getting on now. Look who Joe fought in his 20's and 30's. He showed no desire to move up to LHW, even though it was a much stronger division.
