Is it just me or are people talking like Cotto wasn't even competitive or something? I felt he absolutely dominated the first 6 rounds, landing flush bombs on Marg at will. Unfortunately for Cotto, Marg showed balls of steel and kept coming foward like a warrior.

Marg won fair and square like a true warrior but he had only really just caught up on points when Cotto caved in.

Cotto out landed him in the fight. When Marg broke his will in the 7th it was obvious Cotto was in big trouble, though he managed to get a small second wind at some point, finally falling in the 11th.

Fight of the year imo, i just feel some people are talking about it as though it was ****ing Calzaghe vs Lacy.

Even in the first 6 rounds where Cotto was landing flush bombs and Margo wasn't landing many clean power shots, Cotto's face was marking up easy and Margo's leather hide seemed to be invincible lol.

Not trying to take anything away from Margs great win, i just felt a lot of the comments getting round don't represent how competitive Cotto was.

I agree to some extent, but Lujan was competitive with Margarito, Clottey was competitive with Margarito, Diaz was competitive with Margarito, ect. - until Margarito started pimp slapping em'. Putting on the appearance of being competitive with Margarito is no major accomplishment. It happens alot.

I agree man. Cotto was in control of this fight for the first 6 rounds and was arguably yp 5 to 1. It was in the 7th round when Cotto was hurt that Margarito took over, but even then Cotto was still landing some very good shots. Your right, Cotto was making Margarito miss a lot of his power shots in the first half to.

Very true, but this happent when an previously undefeated fighter loses his 0.

I though Cotto was boxing tremendously from 1-6. I thought he is gonna outpoint Margo with ease. Then everything went wrong in the 7th.

Cotto should have kept more distance in the second part of the fight, but i know the crowd would have booed and Cotto's heart would have ruled his head anyway.

I'm gutted that Cotto lost i feel pretty down actually and fell bad for him, but he'll be back. He'll be wiser and tbh all great fighters have to come back from a defeat and i have no doubt Cotto will do so also.

i agree with you here. during the fight, a lot of posters are even saying that margo looks amateur compared to cotto. cotto boxed beautifully in the early rounds. then as the round went on, margo is still the same bull in the ring and continued his assault while cotto is slowly wilting. margo simply is the more conditioned athlete to go with his granite chin. props to margo.

He fought well for 6 rounds but the fight was over 12. When the he could see the fight slipping away and was under pressure he just folded. Cotto has beaten the **** out of guys for 12 rounds but at least they kept going.

Conditioning has to play a part. I just dont think Cotto's preperation was up to scratch, he looked knackered really quickly. I know the nose damage had an effect as it forced him to breathe through his mouth, but i thought he'd have more stamina.

Eubank, calls it folding:patsch it wouldnt go so far, he gave it his all, i'm just suprised things changed as quickly as they did.

beating cotto thru superior conditioning was really the game plan of margo. he said it himself. well, his plan was a success.
