45-0 + 20 odd defences yet he can't punch. He must be one hell of a boxer.

Yea he is: excellent work rate, brilliant stamina, great chin, throws a huge volume of punches, can adapt his style extremely well to the fight...

The guy can punch. He's no Tommy Hearns but he can punch.

He has just adapted his style to his brittle hands.

The annoying thing is he has not always had this Sven Ottke type lack of power. He used to be known as a power puncher earlier in his career. And he probably still can bang pretty well, but if landing a really hard shot will break his hands, the fair enough.

To me it means nothing that he isnt a great puncher. There is alot more to boxing then punching hard if it werent then Earnie Shavers would be the greatest Heavyweight of all time. Calzaghe has enough pop in his punches to keep guys off him and hes got alot of other skills and attributes. Ill take Calzaghe a guy with a solid chin and execellent recovery ability, high punch workrate, quick hands, nice foot movement, good arsenal of punches (righthooks, lefthooks, body punches, uppercuts, overhands, jab, straights he is one of the few boxers that has every single punch and uses them effectivly) Ill take that type of fighter every single time over a guy like Edison Miranda who has CRAZY 1 punch KO power but has a average jaw,is horrible when backed up,doesnt put combos together very well,ETC hes basically a one trick poney and cant beat the elite fighters out there Abraham or Pavlik. While you got Calzaghe whos this feather fisted guy you all call him out there 120-105ing the next big thing Jeff Lacy, beating Bernard Hopkins clearly,Mikkil Kessler at his own game. Alot more to boxing then punching. Its a guy like Thomas Hearns who can take that power but add to it and even make it better that really makes power mean a dam thing.

Na bro early in Calzaghes career he was facing soft opponets so naturally the KO rate is going to be high. Look at Pernell Whitaker he KOed most of his opponets early in his career cause it was journeymens he was in with. Whenever you are a elite level fighter like Calzaghe your going to almost 90 percent of the time KO journeymen level fighters even if you dont have world class power cause you can too much skill in other departments for them to handle.

He's never been a huge puncher but he could punch harder than he can now. He doesn't throw the same kind of power shots he used to. But his other fighting attributes make up for any power shortages.

That replay was the part of the fight that stood out to me most clearly. Joe was doggy paddling without water. That surely is the most amateurist technique i have ever seen. Its godawful lest i take the lords name in vain.
