In the sense that Whitaker would had no problem at all against Mayweather resume, As for Mayweather I see some loses against Whitaker resume.

So now Tito had just his "left" hook?? Prime Trinidad was a underrated body puncher not to mention he stop a few with body shots at 147, He also had a good right hand.

More? Or better? Because Whitaker beat better opponents. Chavez, for instance, is better than anyone Floyd beat.

Whitaker's schooling of Chavez was better than ANYTHING Floyd's done, so far anyway.

Mayweather beats Trinidad prime for prime and gets a draw after winning 11 rounds straight against Chavez Sr. in a hilarious schooling and another(see Whitaker fight for the first) introduction to boxing 101 for the cabbies of the world. DLH would be 50/50 if both fight in their primes and in their most comfortable weights.

Whitaker has a better resume, particularly if (like many boxing fans) you think he won the Chavez fight. Mayweather is very talented and skilled, but his resume isn't on the same level as Whitaker's record. I don't think it's even on the same level as some of the guys in his own era, like Pac. (A win over a prime/near prime Barrera is better than any win on Mayweather's record, even though I think Mayweather is a better, more complete boxer than Pac.)

I think a fight between Whitaker and Mayweather would also be interesting. It would be competitive and probably close. I lean towards Whitaker winning, mainly because of his excellent jab, southpaw stance and boxing abilities, but Mayweather could also win. Tough match to predict, because both guys are defensive experts. The one who forces the other to lead would probably get the decision.

Floyd hasn't beaten ATGs like JCC or Azumah Nelson, hasn't hung tough with young future ATGs like Oscar and Tito while being a washed up cokehead, (and still managed to make them look foolish at times) hasn't effortlessly clowned guys with 100+ wins on their record, hasn't beaten the top champion or challengers at the time from every division he's been in.

Don't get me wrong, I think Floyd has as much talent and ability as anyone who has ever put on the gloves, I just would have to see mroe of it proved inside the ring, against guys that were in their prime, and that Floyd didn't have some ridiculous advantage against.

But honestly, I don't know why Floyd fans get so bent out of shape about rankings. One day it's all "Legacy don't pay the bills, health comes first, guys like Ali should have thought about that back in the day" and then the next day they're whining about why their guy isn't ranked higher.

According to you guys, Floyd is doing the right thing by going after the biggest payday with the least risk to himself, so why do you care where he's ranked? According to he's doing the right thing, so why should you care what people who make all time lists think?

^ This. It's not a great mystery. Whitaker fought greats. Floyd hasnt. It's true Floyd has longevity on his side, but the biggest category for assessing legacy's, is the question" "who have you beat?". Whitaker has beat better opposition. Winning the Pac fight would have done it for Floyd.

Maybe, but this isnt a main factor is assessing legacy. The main factors of this, are centred around what actually happened in real life.

If PBF finishes his career undefeated at 49-0 or 50-0 he will be a top 15 to 20 ATG. It's so hard for any guy to get any higher than that. Just too many classic ATGs to pass up and in this era these guys don't garner the same respect as the older fighters did. I think Pea's ranking is justified because he never lost a fight while prime and his boxing ability was without peer in his prime.

If Floyd does do that, I'll may have to give him that ranking too. Even if I don't feel he's beaten any prime ATGs has pulled shenanigans, he has beaten a LOT of good and very good fighters.

Many of them weren't at their best weight or prime, but quite a few were still dangerous. Even if I don't wind up saying he's top 15-20, he'll be on the next rung down.

Nobody would have "schooled" Whitaker, he's too skilled.
