People who think Haye will knock out Valuev are out of their damn minds

Incorrect, bud. Two HW fights. Two heavies, both in the heavyweight division.

Haye came in at a lean and mean 218 pounds. Meaning he's going for speed and stamina and not expecting to KO Valuev early like he's said.

 

This will be the heaviest he will have fought at!
But im glad he didnt bulk up too much.. i fancy along with the speed hell still carry his power up with him.

to ko valuev he will need to have savage power....lets look at the physics of that..
valuev's chin has never shown any problems.
valuev, aside from his already huge size, has a massive head, which in turn should contribute to a good chin or punch resistance.
haye will be punching upwards...i expect he loses a lot of natural power and weight behind his punches doing that, so his ko power may not be there like it would against a boxer of similar height to himself.
but...although valuev is huge...i do think it has been exaggerated in a lot of ways to help sell the fight...haye is taller than some of the carefully taken photos would suggest..he is standing slightly behind valuev in some and in others he was bending his knees a little {or so they tell us now}...he knows the size difference will promote this...sky sports and haye camp talk about valuev being 7feet 2"...but he is 7feet dead....when you see them in the ring together the size difference wont be as apparent...valuev will be much bigger but not as much as all the promo photos suggest.
but still..he will be a lot taller than haye for it to feel anywhere near natural to punch up at him.

anyway...i think if haye doesnt get stamina issues from valuev hugging him with all that weight on him...and he can take it easy and pace himself, darting in and out with jabs and light body shots, he can win on points..forget wasting energy trying to ko the big man.....but i could be very wrong...i have been before...just my opinion.

 

he was decking Barret with glancing shots, he didn't connect as cleanly as he can in that fight, if anyone (valuev aside) eats a David Haye Hayemaker on the money they are gonna get hurt, his hands seem just as fast at heavy as they do at cruiser plus there's more muscle behind those shots now, I have no doubt he's still a p4p power puncher.

Glancing blows indeed. I rewatched the fight yesterday. Haye was alot faster than barrett and far more co-ordinated than people are making out. Barrett didnt land hardly anything clean apart from hitting haye whilst on the floor. Even pacquiao was wobbled and had to take a knee from such an illegal blow when barerra hit him on the break. Monte was forced to lunge in wildy to get to hayes chin but haye slipped most of monte's jabs.

The only time haye connected with a full blooded right hand hayemaker was the last knockdown and at that point monte was completely gone. I was surprised rewatching the fight at how little it took for barrett to go down and haye knew this. I dont think valuev takes alot of those hayemakers on his chin.

 

Excellent, if Valuev fights well and is more aggressive he should win.

 

There are a few videos of Valuev clubbing a couple of decent heavyweights around. Haye is coming out wild in this fight, Haye within 2 rounds by KO or Valuev. :happy Should be war!

 

Haye doesn't need massive one punch power to stop Valuev. I think both Klitschko's are bigger punches, but I give Haye a better chance of stopping Valuev. Why? He throws unorthodox, fast punches. Unlike Wlad, who is a 1-2 man or Vitali, who is slow and rangey, Haye is in an out with short hooks, uppercuts and a general fast attack.

It's not pure punching power which stops granite chinned fighters, it's speed and accurate punches, which is why I mentioned Mosley/Margarito. Mosley shouldn't have had enough power to do any damage. He doesn't hit as hard as Cotto, yet he stopped Margarito. The punch which did it, was an unexpected leaping left hook and from there, Margarito never recovered. Ricky Hatton fought some bangers in his time, most notable Kostya Tszyu, yet he walked through those shots. Against the much lighter hitting Mayweather and probably Pacquiao, he was stopped, because he didn't see the shots coming. You can even look at McCline knocking Peter down three times, yet Wlad, who hits a lot harder, didn't put him down once. Wlad's punches were too predictable, which is probably why his left hook did the most damage as he rarely threw it.

Haye can stop Valuev because he isn't just a puncher. He's fast, accurate and isn't easy to figure out.
