watch how byrd fights vitali. if byrd can do this with vitali then why not toney. toney has about the same reach or more that byrd, only a couple of inches smaller. he has more power and a better chin than byrd. better defense and more offensive...in and out.

it would be interesting. i see what toney see's. the klits are beatable by toney easy. vitali imo would be easier to fight than wlad cos vitali leans into his opponents more than wlad, wlad will just stick and lean back, ...stick and lean back.....Stick and leeean back.

Yeah, Byrd did really great winning 2 out of 9 rounds there.

No to mention that the height difference between Toney and Byrd is similar to that between Ali and Frazier: 4 inches. Those add up very far when your opponent is 6'6 1/2 or 6'8. Oh, did i mention yet that it's pretty hard to win rounds throwing 25 punches a round against an opponent who averages 60 (Vitali) or who has barely dropped a single round in his career against small, underpowered defensive fighters (Wladimir)?

Sorry, just dont see Toney winning.
Wlad is to big, to fast, to strong for Toney at this point in Toneys career.

i agree, and prime chris byrd probably only was winning those two rounds because vitali had a shoulder injury from the third round on. anyone who has seen the whole fight has witnessed that vitali was holding back and wasn't as aggressive as he normally is.

Well, as mentioned before Byrd won something like 2 rounds out of 9 (and that was probably when Vitali was already injured). I doubt Toney could do much better than that.

I am almost the same size as Toney, and when I used to do boxing there was also one huuuge guy training in the same gym - he was a little above 6'7. I was sparring with him sometimes. If I was lucky I could ocasionally land a jab to the body - and he wasn't really doing much, other than just keeping the distance and applying the jab and even hooks (while he was still safely out of my range).

You can win with someone that big only if your opponent is stupid enough to give away his size advantage by chasing you and fighting inside (like McCline-Byrd) or if he is really very slow and crude (like some of Valuev fights). Or if you have mastered Tyson-like style. None of that applies to possible fight between Toney and any of Klitschkos.

    You say...WLAD KO9 Toney

From you this is a revealing statement. I take that to mean that Toney will be a much more difficult fight for him than anybody, since KLIT fought Sam Peter...let's look at the recent past...everything after Peter...

    KO7 Byrd
    KO7 Brock
    KO2 Austin
RTD6 Brewster (the medically suspended boxer quit on his stool)

...and then that disgusting pitiful Sultan fight. It went the distance, but it was the biggest piece of **** in recent HW Title history.

So this fight should be made. Even if I don't argue with your prediction. Toney outclasses all of WLAD's recent competition by resume...and by the way you see him lasting 'till 9 with him.:deal

If Toney doesn't have the discipline to stay in shape then he has little chance to beat the Klitschkos. If he comes in shape, he still has the skills to frustrate them and have a shot at winning.

Byrd was destroyed twice against Wladimir and against Vitali he was losing till Vitali decided to stop because he got injured.

James Toney would be crushed to pieces and he knows it. Vitali actually offered him a fight at some point and this topic was discussed many times already, Toney turned it down because he demanded more money when he wasn't even WORTH more money and needed a big fight/win to cover up for the Ruiz fiasco.

Does Toney get to use drugs because he'll need them.

You don't give James Toney chump change...to knock out that bum. That will be legendary, and it's worth money. Ruiz retired after James humiliated him, only to come back because the medication that Toney had in his system to recover from his injury was a banned substance. The only fiasco is that they stripped James. Toney got hurt and may have needed to cheat a little to get to the ring...but Ruiz cheats the whole time he is in the ring.

why would toney fight vitali for little money, it doesnt make sense? it wouldnt exactly be a small fight.

Toney is about the same size as tyson height wise, if your 5'9 or 5'10 and you know how to fight, then you wouldnt have too much trouble with a tall opponent like vitali or wlad, as was proved by tyson.

its the work rate that would cost toney, i would love to see this happen within a year. i just dont see toney getting knocked out by the klits, technically they nothing special. with toneys chin and defensive skills, i dont see james being ko'd.

it would still be interesting. and btw toney is around 5'9 and a half whilst byrd is 6'0. this is not a 4 inch difference.

btw how would 5'5 and a half inch dwight muhammad qawi who started out at light heavyweight do against a huge punching big george foreman?

if this fight hadnt happened im sure most of you would of said "foreman would crush him within the first round."

you just never know until the fight happens

Big Bad Wlad would beat the dog **** out of Toney.

He's old and has been fighting weight for years.

Toney might last the whole 12 but he'll take an ass pounding in the process.

I think he might beat Vitali because Vitali has been retired for quite some time. Toney in my mind has put himself back in the picture when Raahman quit after the headbutt. I still don't think he can beat Wlad.
