People Who Think Price can "Pull a Wladimir"...

I think Price needed to lose in order to learn where his flaws are. I think Price could beat Thompson in a rematch. He just needs to learn to not drop his right hand like that vs a southpaw with a pretty good reach and to use a "long rhythm" ( kind of moving the head by swaying back and forth like Muhamad Ali, I don't think short rhythm a la Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson would work for him ).

 

Very few heavyweights have and will be as dominant for as long as Wlad has been so Price was never going to achieve the same level of dominance as Wlad.

When Wlad was at his low point was after the loss to Brewster. If you compare that to Price now its clear that Wlad was in much better shape.

Wlad was 28 and Price is going on 30. Wlad had 40+ fights and Price 16. Wlad had already beaten top fighters like Byrd, McCline, Barrett etc while Price has beaten old versions of Skelton and Harrison. Not too mention Wlad had a better amatuer career, Manny Steward, and Brewster and Sanders were better than this version of Thompson.

Price can still go onto having a good career but that chin has probably put a certain ceiling on him and he was never going to have the success Wlad did even if he beat Thompson.
