Pavlik can't even carry his punch and style up to SMW let a alone LHW. I predict a mid fight KO for Dawson in this one. Not only does Dawson have far better handspeed but he's got better footwork, more power, he's stronger, and bigger than Pavlik. how in the world does Pavlik win this? Pavlik is horrible above middleweight and he's outclassed in EVERY single category.
I agree with some of this. Not Pavlik though, Dawson is too fast for Pavlik. The rest of it, I have no problems with.
This thread is laughable. The only guys out there that pose a threat of beating Dawson are Calzaghe and possibly Johnson in a rematch, but I think Dawson takes Johnson more seriuosly in a rematch and boxes his way to a clear UD.
Why is this laughable? Dawson hasn't done anything impressive really. He's getting a free pass which is laughable. Not only that everyone knows anything can happen in boxing. Even if you feel those things are unlikely there not impossible. Don't be so arrogant.
I would put hopkins in the mix too. If he could make dawson lower his output and make him weary of hop's right hand then it will be a long night for him. Everyone else I agree would be a longshot except I still think Tarver has a shot if her were to catch dawson, and Kessler would be a good matchup too.
Today, the only fighter I would favor over dawson is Calzague. BHop, Kessler, Taylor, I'd consider a toss up fight. All the others I would have to favour Dawson.
i think Dawson beats Glen Johnson in a rematch, he nicked the first one imo by a slight margin but i see a rematch being more comfortable for him. I think he gets the better of Taylor over 12 rounds and he is simply too big and too skilled for guys like Pavlik. Id pick Hopkins to out smart him and rough him up to win a close decision, possibly SD, Calzaghe puts too much pressure on and Chad goes into a shell while JC picks up the pts, and Kesslers' precise combinations and power drop Dawson on the way to a decision win for Kess. So all these 3 beat him to a decision imo.
